#Repost @allpressespresso ・・・ Alright, let's talk about our takeaway cups. We ran a special report in the latest issue of PRESS (which you should go and find!) but this is an important one so we wanna lay the facts out here too. . Our takeaway cups are produced by our mates at @biopak_au 🌱 They are made from paper (sourced from certified managed plantations) and are coated with Ingeo (a bioplastic made from plants, not oil). They are manufactured in Taiwan and then shipped to your local cafe 📦 The cool thing is because of the plant-based lining they are commercially compostable, and also recyclable through some councils around the world 🏅 Our first choice for disposal would be commercial compost as it supports a fully circular economy. In all of our spaces around Australasia, we offer commercial compost bins, so while it's not the most convenient, you could always stack 'em up and bring them back when possible! ☕️ The second best disposal would be recycling. The tricky bit is there is no global recycling standard - some councils accept them in their mixed recycling and for others, they contaminate that waste stream ♻ Our lids are compostable but not currently recyclable. The best bet is to get in contact with your local council and ask! . At the end of the day, we will always think the best way to enjoy a coffee is by getting up five minutes earlier to get to your local cafe and having it in a ceramic. It's the fully sustainable option (enviro = less waste, social = a conversation with your barista, economic = create a community that encourages others to come spend their ca$h). Using a reusable cup (more on that soon..), a mug from home or even an empty jam jar are all great options too. .
