The University of Illinois Wind Symphony and Chamber Singers, led by Director of Bands Dr. Stephen Peterson and Director of Choral Activities Dr. Andrew Megill, will perform a concert at North Hills en route to Carnegie Hall in New York City. The concert will be performed by two of the school’s flagship ensembles and will exemplify Illinois excellence, instill pride, and deepen engagement through a once-in-a-lifetime experience. In New York, the ensembles will be joined by soloists Nathan Gunn, Todd Payne, and Yvonne Redman for the debut of a newly commissioned work titled Gathering. The first half of the concert will feature the North Hills Wind Ensemble in their PMEA preview concert. On Thursday, April 19th, the Wind Ensemble will perform this same concert for the PMEA Convention Audience. The North Hills Bands have performed at either the PMEA All-State or NAfME All-East Conventions in 7 of the last 8 years. Their program will be as follows: The Black Horse Troop, John Philip Sousa/Fennell On a Hymnsong of Philip Bliss, David Holsinger Dance Movements, Philip Sparke II. Molto Vivo (for the Woodwinds) Turbo Scramjet, William Pitts Variations on a Korean Folk Song, John Barnes Chance Galop, from Moscow, CheremushkyDmitri Shostakovich/Hunsberger Please join us for this special event!
