We are working on Visions Boards. Here’s mine which includes learning from @_wadeking and @elementaryshenanigans this summer at #getyourteachon in San Diego. Swipe to see what my students created. There is a link to the #hyperdoc lesson I created. Link in the profile if you’d like to use it.
I gave our classroom a mini makeover. This is what students see when they first came in. While it may not look like much to you, for my students it was a big deal. In fact, I overheard one student say, “it looks like a private school.” 🤣 It’s the little things that can and do make a difference. Creating a welcoming space where everyone feels welcomed does matter.
Saturday’s Reading. I really think I should title this caption as #instagrammademedoit. So glad I caught @ramonarecommends live where she recommended The Tree Lady. As a teacher in San Diego this is such a great account of the city’s history. As a Disney fan, I’m excited to share Mary Blair’s story. Lastly, I hope Wings of Fire will be another series my Amulet loving students will want to read. P.S. I have more scheduled to arrive tomorrow. 🤓🤣💖
I don’t have pictures of my current classroom because well, to be truthful it’s complicated. Most of my things are in storage. But, when I think of what makes my classroom special, it’s about the people and experiences we’ve shared together. Looking at these pictures reminds me why teaching kindergarten is so much fun. It also challenges me to bring that type of fun to my current students and classroom. #janteacherchallenge
Happy 2018! I thought I’d introduce myself. Here are a few things about me. 1️⃣ I’m a wife, mother and teacher. 2️⃣ I’ve primarily taught kindergarten but have also taught 1st, 2nd and 3rd. 3️⃣ Due to enrollment, I’m a Teacher on Special Assignment this year. Currently, I’m teaching 5th and helping with our reading interventions. 4️⃣ I love learning but get bored doing the same lessons the same way. That’s where social media helps keeps things fresh and new. 5️⃣ I’m Blended Learning Certified. I love mixing tech and GSuite tools into our learning. 6️⃣ I want to learn more about inquiry based learning. 7️⃣ I believe in kids! I love that I can contribute to positive change. That said, I also know schools aren’t always places where kids feel success. 8️⃣ I try my best to create a classroom where we all can feel successful. 9️⃣ I blog at Learning with Mrs. Parker. I’ve struggled the past few months sharing my journey since it’s changed course a bit. I hope to find my voice again. 🔟 I’m more of an introvert than extrovert. I’d much rather participate Twitter chat; #gafe4littles, #teacherfriends than record a Live story.
My little family. #teacherfamilyportrait
My #olw for 2018 is EMBRACE. Embrace life. Live more. Do more. Make the most of every moment. 2017 brought change both personally and professionally. What I’ve learned is that I can fear it or embrace it. I hope to EMBRACE whatever this new year has in store. #onelittleword2018 #mywordfor2018
