GOALS + GRATITUDE. If I have one, I will have the other! In a couple days, I am beginning a new fitness program that is a combo of lifting and HIIT training. Beginning something new makes me incredibly grateful to have a body that can move and get stronger and healthier, all while setting a goal of pressing on to complete something new. Being grateful for how far I’ve come pushes me on to even greater things! Anyone want to join me? Would love to have some partners to tackle this program with!
OH the belly sweat! 🙈 is it just me?! Why must a woman’s belly sweat?!!! Just wrapped up 7 miles, right on track with my half marathon pace goal. That half marathon that I just THIS morning decided I will commit to. There is a certain rush for me that comes with completing a good, hard run, and pushing my pace or distance a little more than the day before. I’m doing this!!!
One of my favorite summer afternoon treats: fresh berries, topped with almond butter and paleo granola! I crave it every day!
I’ve learned so much about balance lately. I believe there is a season for setting lofty goals that will challenge me in huge ways. And there are also seasons of listening to my body and soul, and having the willpower to NOT push myself super hard. Some days I’ve been drawn to quiet reading/reflecting/journaling time in the mornings, and a year ago I would NOT have let that get in the way of my workout because I was so outward-body focused. These past few months I have completely stepped off the scale (oh the freedom!) and stepped into listening to not just my body but also my heart, to nourish it just like I would my physical body. Sure, I don’t have as ripped of abs as I did at the start of the year, but The grace I’ve given myself in this season has been refreshing. ❤️ today = yoga. Tomorrow = HIIT workout plus some lifting. Balance!
Whew, what a week! Just got home from iowa, where the kids and I spent time with my folks and I had a maternity shoot (see a preview over at @allisonwollen !) . Just got home and I’m SO happy to still have some fresh veggies in the fridge for a feel-good lunch! 🙌🏻
Visiting nana and papa for a few days this week with my kiddos, which means I’ve missed a few days of workouts with packing and traveling and kids not sleeping in a new place very well. So here I am during their afternoon naps, willing myself to get moving!! I don’t FEEL motivated but I KNOW it will feel so good to have worked up a sweat and pushed myself. Right?! Let’s do this! Not making any excuses today!
