The internet does so much to bring us together, and yet it seems like a poor substitute for real human connection sometimes.⠀ ⠀ I’m lucky this isn’t the case here! I’m incredibly grateful this little app that we’re all *slightly* addicted to has resulted in coffee dates, genuine friendships, fun collabs, wedding shoots, and more.⠀ ⠀ I love you for indulging me with my insta stories, awkward moments, and maaaybe slightly over sharing sometimes.⠀ ⠀ Have you made any real life friends as a result of social media?
How would you feel if it rained on your wedding day? We’ve been having so much wet weather here in Brissie, and although I secretly love it a little bit... (apart from the mounting washing pile) rain can cause my couples *unnecessary* stress on their wedding day.⠀ ⠀ Over on stories for my Tuesday Tips, I’m talking about 5 reasons rain on your wedding day ISN’T the worst thing ever, and why it doesn’t have to stress you. Have a watch by clicking my profile pic & let me know your thoughts! 💦
I listened to a blogger on a podcast today who said “social media is all fake” and while I totally get where she was coming from #dontcomparehighlightreeltobehindthescenes ...it got me thinking. Everyone is completely different with how much they share on social media, but I always want to try to let my personality shine on here. Because social media is better with some honesty thrown in don’t you think? And I just wanna THANK YOU for being here. Xx
Who watched the royal wedding last night?! 🙋🏼♀️⠀ ⠀ Thoughts on Princess Eugenie’s dress? I’ll always love a veil, there’s just something so romantic about it but I have to say I loved the structure of the back of the princesses dress...and a veil might have hidden the beauty of it?⠀ ⠀ Here’s my gorgeous Imesha, absolutely rocking her beautiful veil in amongst the cinnamon trees of Sri Lanka. #veilgoals Would you do a veil or no?
Be kind to yourself today.⠀ Even if you are not where you thought you would be, you are still allowed to find peace in the beautiful reality that you are still on a journey, and you cannot measure yourself up against the miles you have not travelled yet.⠀ ⠀ Be kind to yourself today, in a grace-filled, honest way, knowing that no matter the things that have been far from perfect, you are growing at a steady pace. - Morgan Harper Nichols @morganharpernichols
Guess what my first job was??⠀ ⠀ Picking rockmelons (cantaloupes for the Americans) 😂 I was 15 and was probably paid about $8 an hour. We lived in the country, and I was desperate for some extra cash even if it meant slaving away in the hot sun, covered in dirt, bent down picking up melons. 💪🏻 ⠀ Fast forward to today...while I still venture into paddocks every now and then, these days it’s usually with an obliging bride and groom. 💍 ⠀ What was your first job?? Does it relate at all to what you’re doing now, or is it more random...like picking melons? 🍈😂
ITS OKAY⠀ * to make mistakes⠀ * to have bad days⠀ * to be less than perfect⠀ TO BE YOURSELF.
Don’t compare your life to others.⠀ There’s no comparison between the sun and the moon, they shine when it’s their time.⠀ ⠀ Remember “pretty squares” on Insta are not always real life.⠀ ⠀ Instead of scrolling, scrolling, endlessly scrolling, why not leave an encouraging comment on someone’s feed today? #spreadlove
It’s like Christmas morning when the courier delivers my couples albums!⠀ ⠀ The story of your wedding day wrapped in handcrafted, linen, locally made deliciousness.⠀ ⠀ For me, to see my work in print is one of my very favourite things about being a photographer. These albums will outlive me, outlive my couples, and will be passed down through generations. Just think, your daughters daughters kids will someday flick through these pages. 🤯⠀ ⠀ Katie & Dales family heirlooms are on the blog today! 3 of these beauties, including parents albums. Go check it out!
