About four posts ago you’ll see a photo of a newborn baby. Believe it or not that’s this little man and he’s one year old now!! 😭 where has the time gone?! Love this sweet little family and had a great time catching up with them this weekend! . Friends and past clients, my fall calendar is almost full but I still have some room for mini sessions! Email or DM me if you want to set something up! #rachelwordphotography #familyphotographer #secondshooter
Quick backstory on this photo: my phone was smashed to bits but still worked, so I couldn’t bring myself to get a new one at the time, and that’s why the photo is so blurry. . We hadn’t taken a selfie together in quite a while. Not since our honeymoon I think. And I think that’s why I love this photo so much. . It’s not perfect. It’s not from a DSLR. It’s blurry because IRL I could barely read what was on my phone from all the cracks. But having spent an entire year choosing to step away from my phone, to not worry about posting all the time, and to just LIVE IN THE MOMENT AND NOT PULL OUT MY PHONE has seriously changed my perspective on social media. . I have a love/hate relationship with these platforms. I love staying in touch with people and seeing their life updates. But I also so often see those that I love getting caught up in the need to constantly be online rather than just BEING. . After almost a year of not posting anything on either of my business accounts, guess what... I’m still getting more business than I can keep up with! The world and my businesses did not end just because I didn’t post a few times a week. . Even if you’re not a business owner, I want to encourage you to actively choose to step away from social media every once in a while. I promise: it’s GOOD FOR YOUR SOUL! You are more than the number of followers you have or the number of likes you get on any given post. . As we head into a holiday weekend (and if you’re still reading! 😂), I want to challenge you to keep your phone away. Don’t worry about taking a video or photos of the fireworks. Any media form will pale in comparison to what’s in front of you. Be with your family, be content in the moment, and soak up the memories without technology in your hand and without worrying about what you might post afterwards. #thoughts #socialmedia #putthephonedown #bepresent #youareenough #youareloved
So, it’s been a hot minute since I posted on here. Needed to take a bit of a social media sabbatical for wedding planning, focusing on my new business (@creativeswrite), settling into married life, and just to practice some self-care away from social media. Lots more to come on some updates in life and business, but for now, here’s one of my favorites from our big day! 📷 by @anny.photography.
