A blessed Ash Wednesday! We give thanks to God for another year to walk the way of the Cross these 40 days of Lent; to watch and pray; to join with those generations of Christians before us and take part in the three disciplines of Lent: prayer, fasting and almsgiving. May God bless our Lenten journey as we give a thankful response to our Lord Jesus for His great sacrifice in our place. #AshWednesday

The week before Christmas, Deaconess-elect Phyllis Yee read to the 1st grade class at Trinity Lutheran School in Hicksville, NY. She read Lutheran Friends of the Deaf's Bible Book - The First Christmas, while Barbara Lewis, Executive Assistant to President & CEO Michael F. Killian, interpreted. The children were taught ASL signs such as Jesus, God, and Christmas. Fun was had by all!
Heavenly Father, we thank You for all that You've given to us in the past year, the good along with the tough things. We are reminded that we need You and rely on Your all availing presence to be with us each and every day. We are blessed that You make all things new. We pray that You lead each one of us in our lives in this New Year. Please give us wisdom, strength, and protection during the upcoming year. Guide our hearts and our minds to turn towards You so that we can understand Your will, hear Your voice through Your Word and know Your ways. Thank you for this New Year and for all the potential that it holds for us as Your children. We ask you Lord to bless each one of us as we begin this New Year with a renewed sense of hope in You. To You be all glory and honor in this New Year! In Jesus' holy name we pray. Amen!
