Super Sore Saturday 💪❤ I had the best morning at @reebokcrossfit09 yesterday in Mount Albert. I was lucky enough to spend time with @freetobestrong. Woke up with a sore butt, inner thighs and back of my legs (hammies) this morning, so stoked - finally my squats are using my posterior chain (using the back side of my body to lift) instead of the anterior - my quads. I have always been quad dominant, with glutes doing not much. I have been working on glute activation, and strengthening the neurological link between my brain and my butt. Yesterday was Goblet Squats +much more, including many Medball Cleans working those muscles. Love that my studies includes broadening my knowledge with her! ❤💙❤ Nicci x

| | D A Y O N E | | Clean Eating Challenge with Activ8 Northland. #nocoffee #headache #withdrawals Breakfast was a green smoothie with babe spinach, avocado, frozen blueberries and almond milk 💚 Snack - apple & almonds 🍎 Lunch (post workout) was a Quinoa & Veggie Salad. Cook the quinoa as per instructions, then roast orange kumara and garlic tossed in olive oil for 15 minutes at 220C, then add green capsicum, yellow capsicum, broccoli and red onion. Bake for a further 10 minutes. Once cooked add baby spinach and gently toss. Once cooled add pumpkin seeds, avocado, tomatoes, apple cider vinegar and gentle toss. My partner took this to work with grilled fish as well 🐟❤ Nicci x
| | A l m o n d M i l k | | 💕 Finally made my own almond milk, and it really is easy!! ♡ Soak a cup of almonds over night or up to two days. Drain, rinse, drain. ♡ Place in a blender: it's one cup of soaked almonds with at least 2 cups of water, and up to 5 cups of water. 2 cups of water for a thicker creamer milk like consistency or 5 cups of water gets you a thinner 'milk'. ♡ Blend. Sieve (or use muslin cloth). Store in an air tight glass bottle ❤ The almond fibre left in the sieve, can be composted or used in smoothies or baking. ♡ Consume almond milk within 2-3 days. ♡ If you want to add some sweetness to your almond milk add 1 dried date to the blender. | | C l e a n E a t i n g | | I got my partner to agree to doing a clean eating challenge with me.... He quickly went to the dairy to get some beers... which btw I did not recommend 😂 This is a six week challenge and is done through 'Activ8 Northland' and there are 3 levels, we have gone with Level Three: DETOX: Eliminate the above (which is sugars and processed foods) PLUS grains, legumes, coffee, alcohol, processed foods, Cut out dairy, red meat (14 days), eat veges with every meal.
