We are proud to announce @abdullahmashhood as our 'Salamti Fellow of the year' 2018. Abdullah is a Political Science graduate from LUMS. During his scrutiny interview for the fellowship shared with the jury about his profound interest in exploring the impact of religion on ideologies and political discourses. He carries a strong sense of responsibility towards the society and always tries to contribute towards uplifting it by volunteering for several social work initiatives. The most interesting fact about him is his passion for Urdu language and literature. He is an aspiring musician and plays guitar through which he composes pieces of Urdu poetry and produce original renditions. Reason, why Abdullah has been selected as the best fellow of the year, was his dedication, team spirit and will power towards learning new things through out the fellowship. Now being a Peace Agent, we expect Abdullah to play an active role towards cultivating peace within himself and towards others. #Salamtifellowship2018 #salamtiforall
16.10.2017 Last year, on this very same day team Peace Without Borders- Pakistan launched its peace building campaign called ‘#AmnQalaab’. A campaign that has worked all across Pakistan, reached out to 8000+ direct beneficiaries, conducted 100+ social events including focused group discussions, guru talks, muqalma sessions, book reading sessions and what not that have contributed in making Pakistan more tolerant, more inclusive. This was an eventful, yet peaceful journey so far. Today, team #AmnQalaab proudly celebrates this one year in service of peace. #manymoretocome #peacefuljourneyneverends
Here’s to what Ayesha Munir has got to share about her experience at Pakistan’s first ever peace fellowship program!💙😊 . . . #Repost @millenial_heart with @get_repost ・・・ “Make peace, not war”. I had the honor of attending a 7-day workshop, Salamti Fellowship 2018, on peace-internal and external and Countering Violent Extremism (CVE). The venue chosen was a serene resort situated amidst mighty mountains surrounded by picturesque pine trees. Thirty participants from all over Pakistan were selected. This program was designed in a manner to bring us as close to nature as possible. We were woken up at 5:30 am every day to begin the day at 6 am with meditation followed by yoga. We had our lectures on the ground, mostly outdoors, with no chairs or seats. We had no access to internet or our phones except for only one hour per day. We were encouraged to think and talk about taboo topics, such as homosexuality, menstruation etc. We were given group activities that were sometimes creative, sometimes scientific, and sometimes a beautiful amalgamation of both. We were given lectures on conflict and resolution, ADR, the art of thinking, CVE. But above all we were taught the art of acceptance - acceptance of ourselves and those around us. To be satisfied with our weaknesses and of others. To tolerate the differences that we all have and focus on the positivity that can bind us together as individuals, as a community, as a society at large, as nationals of one country and residents of one world. Something that really touched my heart was the humility and friendliness emanating from the organizers team. They not only made us feel at home but also mixed with us as if they were also participants themselves. I learnt so much from not only the lecturers, the team but also the participants. A huge shoutout to the team @peacewithoutborders and all 29 participants. May peace engulf us all. ❤️ ✌️#peace #peacefulpakistan #peaceshallprevail #weareallone #peacewithoutborders #love #acceptance #salamtifellowship2018 #humanity #saynotoviolence @syedalihameed @trehmans @afifa_javed @anam.iqbal75 @hiraaamjad @naveedghouri @sa__rizwan @aqibmalik_official @ammara_kazi @tuaha_fes
Feroza Gulzar, one of our participants from Salamti Fellowship Program sharing her life changing experience!❤️ . . . #Repost @ferozagulzar with @get_repost ・・・ I’ve been wanting to write something since I came back but wasn’t sure how to describe an experience as beautiful as this.I was away for 7 days without any technology. By that I mean no camera, no laptop, no ipod and no phone. There are times when you’re unable to describe few experiences this was one of them. I got to know more about myself, more about humans and even more about isolation. I’ve lived in isolation, far from cities but to live in isolation near city is something I never thought is even possible. I’ve met more than 30 beautiful individuals and an even better team. Everything and everyone was perfect, I’m sure we’ve made memories of a life time. Thank you @peacewithoutborders for giving us this platform where we learnt how to live with more than 30 people and still find positivity every single morning. You all will always stay with us no matter where we ago, what you’ve taught us will never go to waste, we’ll cherish it forever❤️ . . . I love isolation and I cannot live with people for even more than 3 hours, but I guess this fellowship taught me that it’s possible to live with people if they respect you for who you are.
Meet the first cohort of Salamti Fellowship Program. 30 individuals, 30 different opinions but one collective goal to make Pakistan peaceful and inclusive for all! Cheers to our peace agents! #salamtifellowshipprogram2018 #salamtiforall #peacewithoutborders #peace #CVE
