one week from today, at 5:59pm, I'll turn 34 years old. • • that means that one week from today, at 6:00pm, I'll begin my 35th ride on earth. • • where exactly does the time go? it doesn't seem like long ago I was in law school, or gallivanting around the California coast, or walking to Tropicana Field for devil dogs and baseball. I visited with both my first grade teacher and senior year teacher earlier this week, and I still have very vivid memories from both of their classrooms. it wasn't all too long ago ... but where has the time gone? • • to quote What About Bob? (one of my favorite movies ever), I was six, like, yesterday. • • I've been here in this life, but I haven't always been present in it. for one reason or another, it's easy to drift from day to day without acknowledging that you'll never get that day again. I get so caught up in sharing my life that I forget to enjoy it. • • so, little babies, my birthday gift to myself is my own presence. for the entire month of April, I'm removing myself from my social media - Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat. please feel free to email me or call me, or you can catch me on tyler lucille (I'll continue writing through the month). • • don't forget to be a present force in your own life. and if you find out you aren’t, do what you need to do to get back in it.
