do you think when she looks back 30 years from now that she’ll remember the rice krispie popsicle treats she requested and i made for her and 30 of her classmates to celebrate her 10th birthday 🎈 ?? 🍭 this winter break i’ve been thinking a lot about priorities. this was partially sparked after a really good classroom discussion about time management and how art often takes much longer than you think .... 🍭 but i also just have been thinking about what people do behind the scenes that isn’t often noticed. parents. teachers. government workers who clean national parks. and about how we choose what is most important for us to “take care of” immediately on a daily basis. i had to make it priority to finish these taking a couple hours to dip them in chocolate and add the sprinkles. . 🍭 i don’t remember any classroom treats my mom made because i don’t think we did that when i was a kid. but i do remember her staying up late with me to finish a report on christopher columbus. the home made onigiri 🍙 she put in my lunches. the time we glued cotton balls together to make snowmen ⛄️. . 🍭 i guess what i’m getting at is that these things do matter. they cumulatively form and shape us and small acts are happening all around us daily. it’s kind of mind blowing if you stop to think about it for more than a minute. 🤔🤯 🍭happy friday. may someone give you a treat today. (and i had forgotten how good rice krispie treats actually are ?!?!) also this so would have been a #mydailychroma...
oh hai. it’s 2019. i have a new haircut (thanks @hairgazing). it’s weird not to be painting and posting #mydailychroma. it’s also a relief. i keep thinking about how i don’t want to leave vacation mode. but i start my artist in residency next week @sjmqt and i have a solo show in march. i have no minions so i have to get cracking ! ^^ how’s your 2019 thus far ? any grand (or small. really small plans are kind of my favorite) plans ? ^^ what’s the one goal you want to accomplish this month ?
#mydailychroma 365 :: the colors of all the sketchbooks that now hold the one year of my looking for and documenting color in my life. some thoughts ❤️ this is the 4th ? 5th ? year long project i’ve done and if you’ve never done one i do really recommend them. even though you are always ready for them to be over they always teach you so so much. the lows are low and the highs are high and your brain does shift in ways that make it worth it 🧡 i have long long loved color and studied it but this still changed how i perceive color yet again 💛 i will miss looking around me for something colorfully enchanting enough to extract the colors from daily. i bet i still look out of habit for a week or so 💚 no i am not planning on doing another year long project next year 💙 yes you should try this too 💜 thank you to everyone who looked and commented and found their favorite days while i did this - it was really fun to have your engagement with this project 🖤 happy 2019. i’m not one for resolutions and i don’t have any deep thoughts. this year was hard. but there are always moments of laughter and love to hang on to. i have no idea what i’ll post here now but i’m sure i’ll think of something. there’s a plenty a brewing. happy new year 🎈
