Buttery and flakey on the inside, with a crispy sweet crust on the outside. Our Kouign Amanns are made with real butter and no shortening, as are all our pastries.

We’d like to take a minute to introduce Tanya, the cafe's founder, whom many of you already know. Tanya, who spent her early life in Zimbabwe before coming to the US explains, “I came to this country and always longed for a place of community and cafés are often the heartbeat of a community.” And so a seed was planted for the BakeHouse. “I searched hard for a community that felt right and found the city of Amesbury with its old mill charm but in need of some revitalization.” Despite knowing that many businesses have turned over in Amesbury, Tanya took a chance anyway. Though the BakeHouse has gone through some challenging bumps in the road, it has become a place that the community cherishes. “Never have I worked so hard,” Tanya states. “I had no idea what I was getting myself into not having started a business before. I’m still standing and often wonder how and why - but the café community we’ve built reminds me why everyday and confirms my choice in Amesbury.” “We feel grateful for what we have accomplished so far with the business and the community it has fostered. There are many aspects of the business where we see opportunities for growth, and I often feel in over my head, but we can’t give up now. We will continue to fight to have the BH thrive in this diverse hard working community and forge ahead.”
Happy Monday! We've got all the coffee to keep you going.

The Amesbury community has grown to love the coffee of Durham, NC based @counterculturecoffee. Not only do they produce great coffee, but they use sustainable practices and take action to support the communities that grow the coffee they’re brewing.
We’re excited to host the team of @smallbusinessrevolution next week. They will be visiting to learn more about Amesbury and how its businesses can be helped. Leading up to it we’ll be highlighting what Amesbury residents have grown to love about the bakehouse & Amesbury. You can join in by tagging #myamesbury to share what you love about our town.
