Is it really a #LazySunday or is it an opportunity to get ready for the week ahead? Catch up on some reading, review some notes, pretend you have a big test tomorrow and study for it. Get your agenda book and progress report signed, finish your homework, and get your uniform ready for tomorrow. Write down a small goal you can accomplish this week. A little preparation goes a long way.
Remember the time we hinted at a mysterious video showing our CEO in a dance battle with an eighth grade student? Here’s a gif from that video. It’s Friday and progress reports are going out this afternoon. We’re carrying this exact energy into the weekend! 😁 #HappyFriday
This morning, our sixth grade scholars were treated to a financial literacy lesson from @wellsfargo representative, Antoine Adams. Mr. Adams works in collaboration with the bank’s Hands on Banking for Teens program, and teaches students about topics including credit, loans, and equity. The program takes place during their math class every first Thursday from November to March. Our scholars took in the lesson about responsible banking and managing their finances, and of course, they asked one or two questions about how to convert the American Dollar into V-Bucks and whatever currency Fortnite accepts. Because sixth grade. 😁 Thank you to our friends at Wells Fargo for your partnership in preparing our students for the future. It’s never too early to engage them in valuable conversation. 🦁
The Turkey Bowl is a Young Scholars tradition that goes back 18 years. None of our current scholars were born when the first team, “Team Cash Money,” won the the trophy pictured above. Typically the Turkey Bowl is hosted on the Friday before our Fall break. The games ended up going over time a few weeks back, so we had to postpone the championship until today. We, however, could not let the Turkey Bowl end without a concrete winner. Today the Orange Team claimed victory against the Blue Team, and the score is finally settled. Until next year.
Morning Message: “Failure is not a permanent condition... we have to be willing to fail, to be wrong, and to start over with lessons learned.” Today is a new day. Make it a good one. 😊😄😎
We’re exactly one week away from the Big Spender’s Auction, and the Winter P.R.I.D.E event is also right around the corner. Tomorrow is the last day to earn additions toward this week’s paycheck. Students, keep your account balances in the green to make sure you’re qualified and able to participate in some of the exciting things we’re doing this month before break! Also keep in mind there are usually at least 5 opportunities to earn additions in every class. They add up, so make it count.
If you ask any sixth grade student Ms. Smullen’s favorite rapper, they’ll quickly reply “Jay-Z.” Today is his birthday, so Ms. Smullen shared a story about the time they met in the late 90s, and she passed out grapefruit from our friends @vetricommunity to celebrate. We hope you all have a #terrifictuesday
It’s the first Monday of December, which means there are exactly 4 weeks until the end of 2018! The work we do between now and then will set the tempo for the new year. What are some of your goals for 2019? Drop a comment below. 👇🏽#thankgoditsmonday #tgim
Our Lady Lions are ready for their first competition. This is our first year incorporating cheer into our athletic program, and we are so excited they have the opportunity to participate in the Middle School Division of the Philadelphia All Public League. Their performance is at 2:30 at the Liacouras Center. All support is greatly appreciated.
