Come join us as we kick off our new sermon series called I DON'T GET IT tomorrow! • When it comes to God and the Bible and the Christian life, sometimes we just don't get it. Who is God? What does he want from me? Why is there evil and suffering? Where is God in this mess? What's the point of following Jesus? • I don't get it. So what do I do? • Over the course of the I DON'T GET IT sermon series we're going to explore some of the biggest complexities when it comes to God and the Bible and the Christian life. We'll aim to make our I DON’T GET IT’s starting points instead of endings. Instead of saying “I DON’T GET IT—so I’m done,” we will learn to say “I DON’T GET IT—at least not yet.” • Join us on Sunday at 9am or 11am! • www.journeythechurch.org Camarillo Community Center 1605 Burnley St. Camarillo, CA 93010
Nobody ever said following Jesus was easy. Nobody ever said you wouldn’t be scared or you wouldn’t doubt. • 📚 In Matthew 14: 25 - 33, Jesus does something unbelievable, He walks on water and his disciple Peter follows him out. • You probably already know the rest of the story. Peter is able to walk for a bit, and then starts to sink like a stone, calling out for Jesus to save him, and Jesus does. 🌊 • Though we falter, though we are flawed humans just trying our best but falling short from perfect every time, God has us walking on water. He will pull us out of the water when we begin to sink with the weight of our own fears. He will lift us out of what was sure to be our grave and give us new life, no matter what we’ve done. • 🎼“There's no turning back Nothing in the past My eyes on You again Can't see nothing at all But Your outstretched arms Help me believe it Though I falter You got me walking on water🎼 •• (lyrics in the graphic and at the end of this written section are from the song “Walking on Water” by NeedtoBreathe)

It’s easy to slip into a state of discontent with ourselves. So easy that many times we don’t even notice. It starts with seeing someone else. Maybe they drive a nicer car than you, or own a home that’s better than where you’re living, or have a job that pays more than yours. Maybe you see someone in church raising their hands while yours can’t seem to make their way out of your pockets. It makes you question things about yourself. Little things burrow their way into our hearts and slowly begin to wreck havoc in places that havoc is not welcome or needed. God made each of us the way we are for a reason. He put us in specific circumstances for a specific reason. We might not know quite what that is, but He does. When we get to heaven and see the bigger picture He had for us, do we really want to have spent all our time on earth jealous of the person next to us?
