Starting to write my Christmas list and it goes something like this: vintage film camera (because I’m now intrigued and want to have a play - any recommendations welcome. I’ve heard the Pentax K1000, Olympus XA and Leica miniluxe are good), Gucci loafers (to me, love me perhaps) and of course, bits & bobs! A running joke in my family is my continued request for ‘bits and bobs’ ... luckily my family knows what I mean! Just all the lovely little things you have but don’t often buy yourself, candles, books, art work, stationary, pots, pretty bowls, vases, socks, and any other little nick Nacks to decorate your home and life with! Little pops of joy in my eyes 🍂
Is it Friday yet? I’ve been so busy lately I’ve not had a moment to update mediamarmalade.com with some new posts, if it wasn’t for my banging headache which is fast pushing a migraine I might have got my blog on tonight! I’m longing for a little extra time to shoot and write right now, it feels like it’s been too long since I had some creative mind space! That being said I did get my Fuji our yesterday for a little ‘low key’ photo taking and actually have decided to pen a blog post with some of the shots which is most unlike me! On that note, this photo is not one of those aforementioned photos, and nor was it taken on my Fuji! But my hair and blazer situation did match this today ... is that ‘reality’ enough?
Sunday’s best spent with pals, country walks to the pub and a good home cooked roast dinner (cooked for you I might add). Perfect 🙌🏼 📸 @lizzielately_
Colour matching (or coordination for that matter) has never been my forte but when it comes to autumn tones life gets a bit easier. From here on in we’re basically all about the burgundy, forest green, navy and if I can find the pieces all nude (colour not literally - I wouldn’t put you through that). I’ve got a big weekend lined up starting with a wedding today. I’m wearing my yellow maxi which I featured at the end of summer on my blog, what do you think?
My coffee table is fast becoming a book shop with a high risk of fire due to extreme candle obsession 💁🏼
First days are always hard, starting something new, braving unknown lands, trying something for the first time! But once you’ve taken that first step, your second will follow and before you’ve realised it your already running! And like I said in my blog post last week, when in doubt wear red, and try the super woman pose a la Amy Cuddy (Ted talk - watch it if you haven’t). And finally enjoy it, life without change and evolution would be rather dull after all 👩🏼💻
My internal thermometer is buggered, forever cold, but this winter seem to be over heating on the regular as a result of this seasons insanely hot knitwear!! I’ve even had two migraines triggered from it haha! It’s become a matter of health and safety, and I keep forgetting to wear a tee underneath so I can’t even strip down! Note to self, layers, layers, layers!!!
I’ve shared a new post on my blog this weekend all about shooting on iPhone and my top tips for taking great shots! It’s not something I’ve done in the past a lot, always preferring my camera, but there’s so many positives to learning to take great photos on your phone! Not least the chance to capture more moments more easily! Head over to mediamarmalade.com to read my tips x
The only problem with autumn fashion is that every outfit looks the same on Instagram ... but needless to say, leaving the house without a coat would be inadvisable!! Even if it is for the gram! On the plus side, I’m promoting sustainable fashion and not showcasing a new coat everyday of the week! Instead I like to invest in one or two new coats a season and mix them in with my collection built up over the last few years! This seasons favourite by far is still this investment piece - more on mediamarmalade.com
Instagram as we all well know but struggle to remember is a show reel, beautifully edited, curated and photographed to bring beauty to our screens, and share the perfect snippets of our lives in an inspiring way. It is hard to remember stuff exists beyond it because rarely people talk about it, I know I don’t! As well as my passion for the confidence gap which I do talk about on my blog and have shared my own journey, there’s two things I rarely talk about which are HUGE parts of my life and affect my life in actually quite a big way. You’d never know from my Instagram page, but if you know me in real life then you’ll know all to well! Firstly migraines which can take me out sick for days at a time, the other an autoimmune disease I live with which sounds dramatic but I don’t like to think of it that way, I deal with them both and have a positive mindset and I absolutely do not let either hold me back from living my life (well as much as I can), but I do no my stress and often lack of health & wellness hinders both considerably. So the truth? I have ulcerative colitis, a form of bowel disease (chrons perhaps the more recognisable one) and suffer considerably from migraines - sometimes once every week and they can wipe me for two days at a time. They make me sick, in pain and unable to leave my bed. My colitis is something I just deal with and get on with, I’ve had bad tummy all my life and so I crack on like it’s not there, but it is there. And it does affect me everyday. This is not a sob story (although I am currently fighting a migraine and despite all the sleep, a bath to try and make my back relax and neck pain go away, taking all the prescription tablets I can and the complete light and sound ban, it’s still stabbing my eye and causing me nausea) the reality is I am a very positive, happy, grateful and hopeful person and I truly don’t let these things hold me back and stop me (sometimes I have no choice, but I always get back up and move forward). But I don’t share those things here, I might add a throwaway comment about a migraine but never about the reality of the pain and illness in suffering with as a result. CTND BELOW 🤭
Did you see my new blog post all about wearing red? It’s something I picked up from someone in my industry when I first started out - when in doubt, wear red! Confidence is a funny thing and something I feel quite passionate about, specifically the confidence gap and imposter syndrome which I’ve talked about on the blog! Fashion can’t solve everything, but it can give you a little sartorial Dutch courage when you need it! Pop over to mediamarmalade.com for the full tale plus this beautiful cardigan in all its glory
However you feel in yourself, no matter your shape or size, accessories always fit and always make you feel good! What more of an excuse does one need for investing in a bag that makes you feel good, endlessly!
