Hanging out at a townie bar in Fuquay-Varina watching my dad play drums with his band. Atypical Saturday night. 😅
It's nice to have a #Paleo salad dressing that doesn't solidify in the fridge! @primalkitchenfoods did well!
Obsessed with my Carolina jasmine vine that is blooming like crazy right now! Makes my little backyard feel like a garden oasis. 😍
I AM NOT MY BODY. . There is this myth in our culture that a woman's worth stems primarily from her appearance. . If your body is prettier, thinner, fitter, more beautiful, then your life will be happy, meaningful, worthwhile, and full. . THIS IS NOT TRUE. . I'm sick of seeing marketing based on the before and after picture, and seeing women sold to on the notion that you're not yet good enough, but if you BUY NOW and get the body of your dreams, you'll finally be happy. . There's nothing wrong with taking care of your body. Being strong and feeling energized is important for living the full life you were created for. I wouldn't be in this health/nutrition field if I didn't truly believe that. . But you are SO MUCH MORE than just a body. Your value as a woman is completely independent of your looks. And if someone is selling you the message that by looking better you'll suddenly discover deep joy and purpose, run away as fast as you can. . This is why I'll never use my body to sell my services or my programs. I'm not going to take a mirror selfie showing you my abs or share a perfectly posed photo showing how great my body looks as a testament to my knowledge and capability as a nutritionist. I never want to sell my body as if it's something that has any more value than a container for my soul and spirit. . And I hate that women are conditioned to believe they have to be beautiful and thin to be valuable. It's a lie straight from the pit of hell that keeps SO MANY WOMEN from living out their purpose and experiencing the deep joy that comes from a life lived in the freedom of true self worth. . I've been there, and I still am there sometimes. God has broken some of these chains over the past few years, but I still struggle all the time. I hope one day I won't struggle with this lie anymore, but when our culture teaches women from a young age that their body is their key source of value, it's hard to unlearn that garbage. . Anyway, please excuse the rant but I've been seeing a lot of this type of marketing lately and it really, REALLY pisses me off. And I refuse to participate. .
