It was a crazy day in Charlottesville yesterday but nothing except love from these two friends. Great to be back hanging with my second family in Charlottesville. Liam is quickly mastering the piano and the BMX track while Elizabeth had a big summer with her first plane ride, lots of pool time, and skate park adventures. Praying for love and peace to return to Charlottesville after the tumultuous weekend. As much negativity as the weekend brings and as far from perfection as we are I know this community will continue to strive for love and equality. Just a reminder we have a long way to go. #virginiaisforlovers #charlottesville
After 2 months on the road it sure is nice to get back home to Charlottesville. One awesome memory of the trip are all the awesome friends I saw on the road. Austin driving up from Las Vegas, @nat_norris19 for being a super fan at @thetourofutah, my parents for making the flight out to see me race through their old stomping grounds, the Gunderson Crew (@sethly17, @eugiegundy, and kids) who just happened to be passing through Vancouver on their cross country road trip while I was racing, @tylerclouti for cheering at Tulsa Tough and catching up over coffee, Andrew Thacker representing Roanoke at the Tour of Utah, and a couple others I didn't get pictures with like @andypg in Minneapolis and the entire @aia_cycling gang in Knoxville and Louisville. So fortunate to bump into friends all across the country and bring a little piece of home and familiarity with them as I bounce around. Now for a little chill time in Charlottesville, the hometown that barely feels like home, before I head over the pond for the last and biggest race of the year @tour_of_britain. Can't wait!
Excited to have the opportunity to head over to Europe to race @thetourofbritain with the @cylancecycling. An incredibly opportunity to race at a high level with some of the best riders in the world. Really happy with how @thetourofutah went and know the legs are feeling good, a couple good weeks of training in Charlottesville and I guess we'll find out! #Repost @cylancecycling ・・・ After what was a very successful @TourofUtah for the team, we are extremely proud to announce we'll be stepping across the pond as we've been selected for the 2017 @thetourofbritain. #OVOToB
Finally got around to an adventure I've always wanted to do, hiking to the top of Mt. Timpanogos. At 11,782 ft. it's huge rock faces tower over the other mountains around Park City and the Wasatch front. What I didn't expect was the contrast of green and waterfalls and huge rock walls. The hike was way more beautiful (and challenging) than expected. So pumped to be able to get out there. Been looking at and admiring Timp for a long time, feels great to finally get to the summit. And yes, @wsuhring, this was a hike.
I'd say that face sums up yesterday's @thetourofutah stage 5. A seemingly innocent Stage turned into one of the harder days in the saddle this week, at least for me. A constant grind all day never really let up until I was dropped. Worked hard for the guys positioning into the circuits in bountiful and keeping Kyle safe and sound. Then two laps slowly up bountiful bench as Kyle and the GC contenders fought it out. Unfortunately kyle lost a little time, the long day wearing on even the best of us. Today marks another day and one that looks to be explosive and right up Kyle's alley. Two HC climbs in less than 100km. Every time it goes uphill @ridinabike has been with the best of them. Here's to a shot to shake things up in the GC Also, huge shoutout to bountiful crowd being as rowdy as ever yesterday's. While the circuits are incredibly hard and often a death march, the fans at least make you feel like you're a super star. Thanks for all the cheers!!
A little bit of shameless self promotion. Excited to have been selected for @thetourofutah's Fan Favorite jersey competition for Stage 6 (Link to vote in profile, vote as many times as you want). The Tour of Utah has always been a race close to my heart. While never a Utah resident there hasn't been a year of my life I haven't spent time in Park City. My grandparents lived there for 25 years, my parents met and married here, getting married along the Queen Stage from last year on Guarsmans Pass. I have a ton of memories here, from growing up spending time with grandparents skiing, to High School trips exploring all the Park City trails have to offer, then later exploring those same trails on foot training for Cross Country and Track with @uva_track, and finally, the last three years spent riding the beautiful climbs and gravel roads surrounding Park City. When people ask me where my place is, I always answer high up in Jupiter Bowl as the sun is rising over the ridge. Can't be beat. Thanks for voting and helping me step on the podium at the Tour of Utah. #Repost @cylancecycling ・・・ We're fortunate enough to have another rider up for election at the @thetourofutah.
