Batu Caves: climbing steps and dodging monkeys
Like a dream
Loving what I saw of this city today. #KL
What a ride it’s been. Laos, you’re exquisite! Off to Malaysia tomorrow
Vientiane isn’t as charming as Luang Prabang, but few places are. I liked this view, though. Very reminiscent of the Arc de Triumph.
This is described a peaceful way to start your morning, watching the monks receive their food for the day. In reality, it was a tourist circus. People talking loudly, getting In the face of monks to get the perfect shot. Women were selling rice beforehand to tourists so they could participate in handing out food, but it was too much. Monks were taking handfuls of the rice and throwing it in the brown trash basket. More and more I’m just turned off by what tourism has done to traditions and customs. Is nothing sacred anymore?
