We are currently working on Personal Narratives. These #mentor-texts have helped us to zoom in on a specific event.
Digital Citizenship is the week of October 16-20. On my blog, read how I taught Digital Citizenship in Kindergarten.
This week, we said goodbye to my father in law after a year long battle with liver cancer and kidney disease. Nothing can prepare you for an event like this. We are comforted in knowing that we had an year where we were a family of four. While our hearts ache, we know that we will be reunited in Heaven.
It was @scholasticbookclubs Unboxing Day; as my students called it. We'll be holding a lottery to see who gets to read these books first. They are so excited. #iteach5th
This school year has been one of flexibility and change. I'm currently teaching 5th while a teacher is on maternity leave. Today, we discussed how I will encourage them to stretch their thinking and learning. Of course, we needed slime to illustrate this. Thank you @adayinfirstgrade for the suggestion.
I love this open ended #stem activity to go with Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. Students use letter beads, popsicle sticks and wooden pieces to build an alphabet tree.
Happy First Day of School. Today is a bittersweet day. I have a classroom ready but waiting. Waiting for enrollment to increase. So, today I'm reminding myself that everything is going to be ok.
