Repost @lucyjessicacarter: The Heritage Ability project has been named Best Project in the Heritage category in the 2018 National Lottery Awards. The National Lottery Awards celebrate the inspirational people and projects who do extraordinary things with the help of national lottery funding. Tune in to BBC One at 22.45 on Wednesday 26th September & watch them honoured for their life changing work - We were lucky enough to see what Heritage Ability does first hand, at places such as RAMM. They make these places accessible to people with disabilities, a cause very close to my heart and so worthwhile ❤️🙌🏻 @nationallotterygoodcauses #nationallottery#NLAwards
We did it! We topped the Heritage category of the #NLAwards 2018. Thanks to the wonderful @sallysmack for surprising us and to everyone that voted! @nationallotterygoodcauses ! 🎈🎉🎊✨ #AccessibilityMatters #disability #accessibility #inclusion #southwest
Can you help? We're looking for people with sight loss and macular degeneration based in Cornwall to visit some of our visitor attractions and feedback about their accessibility. You'll enjoy a free day out while shaping the experiences here to make them better for people with sight loss. If you are interested or know anyone who might be interested, please email: email@example.com With your help, we can make heritage accessible for everyone.
One of our glorious heritage sites. Can you guess which? . . . #nature #devon #wildlife
I really thought that I would never be able to go exploring again and I was really sad. Rachel and her husband have been visiting the remote Lundy Island for over 20 years, and even renewed their wedding vows there. But, as Rachel's mobility became restricted, so did her access to the island they loved. Now, she's got full run of the island again, thanks to an all-terrain Tramper, provided thanks to #NationalLottery players, @heritageability and a crowd funder. “There's a mountain top ⛰ that I'm dreaming of If you need me you know were I'll be. I'll be riding shotgun underneath the hot sun Feeling like a someone” George Ezra -Shotgun . Not quite a mountain top but a stunning cliff top and I’m technically driving not riding shotgun but most definitely buzzing having the opportunity to see and experience the wonders of Lulworth Cove with Tyler and Maya and my family. . All this was made possible by @heritageability the @nationallotterygoodcauses and Countryside Mobility. Countryside mobility offer a fantastic scheme where you either pay £2.50 for a taster session for 2 weeks or £10 for the year to join and then at Lulworth Cove it was an additional £2 per hour to hire the Tramper. If you live in the southwest of England or are visiting there are a number of sites where you can hire a Tramper from. . This is who I am, I’m an outdoors person this has always been the hardest thing to accept over the years not being able to enjoy the countryside I want to experience due to Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. Accessibility matters our countryside and heritage should be accessible for everyone to enjoy and charities like these are making it possible not just if you have a mobility issue but for autistic, deaf and blind members of the public also. There is nothing worse than being excluded from an activity or not being able to consider a day out due to access issues what ever that maybe including having changing places toilets. . It was a short scoot but so worth it and we loved every minute of it. For me the biggest challenge isn’t conquering the environment it’s conquering myself, challenging myself to push that bit harder the Tramper was very different controls wise to my scooter’s I use everyday in that it had a twist acceleration which caused a few issues and pain but if it doesn’t challenge you is it really an adventure 🤷🏻♀️. Repost @tyler_and_maya_tales. Thank you for the lovely words!
