To this day my grandma calls me the night before my birthday to wish me a happy birthday eve. Tomorrow is Owen's birthday eve (which I know she will also call for). It's the last day he will be two and I'm feeling pretttttty emotional about it.
back home + repeating, I have found that if you love life, life will love you back. ✨ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ @colleenmwisniewski shared these words by Arthur Rubinstein a couple weeks ago & I haven’t got them out of my head since. 📷: @amyfrancesphoto
“I will not teach or love or show you anything perfectly, but I will let you see me, and I will always hold sacred the gift of seeing you. Truly deeply seeing you.” - Brene Brown, The Wholehearted Parenting Manifesto | I feel like I say this with every age, but this is truly my favorite. Each and every day this kid shows me a little more of who he really is and will be and I’m just doing my best to soak it all up ✨ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I know I will never be the perfect mom (and would never strive to be), but it’s important to me that as Owen grows, he learns through my example what it means to give back to those in need. We recently placed our first order with @KIDBOX (a seasonal style box) to prep for fall. As we moved through their super simple ordering process, we were able to choose a charity we’d like to donate to with the click of a button. Being transparent with our little ones and supporting companies who make it a priority to give back is such a simple way to help raise conscious and kind kiddos. Our last trip with a 2 year old, just 5 days until he's 3 💔😭
This photo is cheesy (according to my sister in law), but I love it anyway. So happy we made this little human & life together, Z.
Palacio Real, taken in the 20 minutes before the tantrum set in & I had to take this kid out kicking and screaming. 🤷🏼♀️ #toddlers
My top family travel tip: plan for downtime. We learned the hard way on this trip that 3 cities in 10 days totaling 5 flights was probably a little too much for this little guy (and was honestly even a lot for Zack, myself & his mom). There will inevitably be days where you need to take it slow to keep your crew happy and when you have too much on your plate that you want to see the major travel guilt can creep in. Don’t let it. One of my fondest memories from this leg of our trip was playing cars with Owen on this balcony. Learning a little more with each trip we take and forever grateful for the challenging moments that force us to slow down. 📷: @zackandraisin
Vacation with a toddler means taking your meals to go about 90% of the time. Am I right? 🙃 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In case you missed it in my packing post, snag this @albionfit jumper & more for 15% off with the code HOUSE15! #takeuswithyou
Best decision we made for our marriage this week: saving up all our credit card points so we could bring Owen’s Gammy along on vacation ✨ so. many. date. nights.
