Couple of fun thrift finds today: Electric Light Orchestra (gatefold with unused push-out cardboard space station), Survivor and Christian phase Bob Dylan (still in the shrink). Not very familiar with these, but great artwork + great condition + 99¢ = no brainer to try.
Black + white + red is my favorite color combo, so clearly this is one of the favorite covers in my collection.
I always feel like somebody's watching me...
And that's called ... sad. Nobody does drama like the Shangri-Las. Everyone's crying, or dying, or estranged, or all of the above all at the same time. I thought I Can Never Go Home Anymore was peak teen tragedy, but the way songs draw out the melodrama over their last few seconds is so ridiculous and amazing that each track is better than the last. Take Dressed in Black, for example: I climbed the stairs ... I shut the door ... I turned the lock ... Alone once more. END SCENE. Errr, oops, nope, we're going darker. And no one ... can hear me cry ... no one. The song's 2:54 long, but I'm pretty sure it's still ... being recorded ... to this ... day. Serendipity's Shangri-Las playlist is now live. Link in bio.
