Hey there! I took a self-imposed social media break for the last month, but I’m back and loving the fun IG facts about my teacher friends that are posted all over Instagram. To join in the fun, here are 10 non-teachery facts about me: 1. I met my husband on a blind date almost 15 years ago, and I had back-up plans all lined up just in case. We didn’t need them! We’ve been together ever since (That's him 🔝)❤💍 2. We own a motorhome and have taken several cross-country road trips with our boys, but due to our busy schedule, we don’t take it out nearly enough🚙🏕 3. I’m not a big tv fan, but I do love This Is Us 📺 4. I grew up loving Bon Jovi, and saw them in concert 25 times by the time I was 30🎶 5.I love living at the beach in sunny So-Cal, but I sometimes dream of moving far away to a tiny little town in the mountains🏞 6. I like matching names, without being overly obvious - my boys’ names all have the “y” sound at the beginning (Kyle, Tyler, Ryan👨👦👦) and my dogs both have “M” names (Macy and Maggie)🐶🐶 7. I got my first job teaching h.s. juniors when I was 22. When I got invited to parties and to the prom, I knew I had to go down to middle school for awhile!🎉 8. I spent my youth in dance classes and cheered through high school and some college, so I assumed I’d have little girls who would take after me...I have baseball-loving boys instead ⚾️🏅 9. Speaking of baseball, when the LA Dodgers were in the World Series in 1988, we had tickets to every home game, but because I won an essay contest, my family went to the awards night and gave away the tickets...on the night of Gibson’s walk-off homerun!! I still haven’t heard the end of it.⚾️📃🔖 10. I have always been an avid reader. Back to the ‘88 World Series, I would bring a book to every game because batting practice bored me. I haven’t heard the end of that, either...📚 😊Questions? Tell me something fun about you...❣
Today I did something fun and meaningful with my juniors--Speed Debating! I bought this resource last year from @writeonwithmissg but the timing wasn't right. Thankfully I put a reminder in my notes. Students practiced Logos, Pathos, and Ethos and had so much fun! Definitely check out this resource on TpT!
I've had this book for over a year, but something told me that today was the day to start reading it. And it turns out, now is just the right time. Have you read it? What did you think? #youareabadass
Enjoyed watching my freshmen working on my new Digital The Most Dangerous Game short story unit. It's totally paperless, which makes my life sooo much easier. And they really enjoyed the format, too. Swipe to see more. LINK in profile. #teachersfollowteachers #iteachela #tpttech #blendedlearning
In honor of my school's Homecoming Game tonight, I shared a photo on my class agenda from when I was on homecoming court my senior year. Look at my handsome dad! He was our Varsity football coach and he wore his tux to coach that game so he could walk with me at halftime 😍
Hey teacher friends, right now is a GREAT time to head to Target 🎯 So many school supplies on clearance!! My favorites are the chart paper post-its for $5.48!!
Many of my students were not born yet when the September 11 tragedy struck. These books always capture their interest and help make the events a little more real for them. What books do you use to teach about 9/11? #neverforget
Who says I don't know how to have fun on a Friday night? So. Much. Grading. That's what happens when you're out for 5 days at the start of the school year💪😩 #btswithtpt17
Good morning from paradise. Maui, my happy place.
