From the moment you hold your baby in your arms, You will never be the same. You might long for the person you were before, When you had freedom and time, And nothing in particular to worry about. You will know tiredness like you never knew it before, And days will run into days that are exactly the same, Full of feeding and burping, Whining and fighting, Naps, or lack of naps. It might seem like a never-ending cycle. But don't forget... There is a last time for everything. There will come a time when you will feed your baby for the very last time. They will fall asleep on you after a long day And it will be the last time you ever hold your sleeping child. One day you will carry them on your hip, then set them down, And never pick them up that way again. You will scrub their hair in the bath one night And from that day on they will want to bathe alone. They will hold your hand to cross the road, Then never reach for it again. They will creep into your room at midnight for cuddles, And it will be the last night you ever wake for this. One afternoon you will sing 'the wheels on the bus' and do all the actions, Then you'll never sing that song again. They will kiss you goodbye at the school gate, the next day they will ask to walk to the gate alone. You will read a final bedtime story and wipe your last dirty face. They will one day run to you with arms raised, for the very last time. The thing is, you won't even know it's the last time until there are no more times, and even then, it will take you a while to realize. So while you are living in these times, remember there are only so many of them and when they are gone, you will yearn for just one more day of them For one last time. - Author unknown Throw back 📷 by @amyfrancesphoto #lifegivingsquares

I have to admit I've had a tough time getting back into the swing of things this week, I've been caught up in a lot of internal bullshit & haven't felt my best. I listened to a podcast yesterday that put it all in perspective about The Lessons of Death (which was much more about appreciating life so stick with me). The guest quoted Abraham Maslow, The confrontation with death—and the reprieve from it—makes everything look so precious, so sacred, so beautiful, that I feel more strongly than ever the impulse to love it, to embrace it, and to let myself be overwhelmed by it....I wonder if we could love passionately, if ecstasy would be possible at all, if we knew we'd never die. If you have some time this weekend take a listen to the Waking Up with Sam Harris podcast, I've linked the episode in my stories.
It took some serious juggling to make these candied nuts this morning, but with the help of goldfish, Daniel Tiger & barricading the kitchen I made it happen. 👊🏻 Snag the perfect recipe for Thanksgiving next week (which takes just 22 minutes to make from start to finish) over on @punch.pastry or Household today!
About five years ago we experienced a terrifying break-in and burglary in our historic downtown Phoenix home. Zack was out of town for a work trip and I had been working since the early morning at a local breakfast restaurant when I came home in the midst of the break-in to realize all of our valuables had been stolen. Heartbroken, young and scared to death I made it my mission to move out as soon as possible, swore off historic homes and declared myself an apartment girl right then and there. That was until last week when my parents moved into their new home in downtown Phoenix. Even though we won’t be staying in this house forever we visit frequently, value their safety and made our first priority #HomeSafety with the #Logitech Circle 2 Home Security Camera. Lets fill in the blank. Social media makes me feel ___________. I recently read a post from @katiengrass about how each time she opens this app she feels worse about herself. As someone who is considered an *influencer* it broke my heart and really made me think about the responsibility I have to be transparent in this space. • I understand how tricky it can be to navigate the emotions associated with comparison & it gets the best of us all from time to time (myself included). If you ever see an image here that makes you feel less than I’d like to remind you that you are enough. Household is a business AND a family journal. It is my job to create & style pretty images but it is always my mission to share with you the honest highs and the lows of motherhood, marriage and self-improvement. And it’s my greatest hope to help you feel less alone, not to alienate anyone. • Her call to action was how to do you leave Instagram feeling more uplifted? & I think it’s an important question to ask. Here’s my checklist for a healthier relationship with social media & I would love to hear yours • spend more time creating than scrolling • follow people who lift you up + unfollow the accounts that don’t serve you • limit your time checking in + take full days away from it all each week • make sure likes, comments and followers are NOT the measuring stick you use to determine your self-worth • find ways to represent the direction you’d like to see this space go & think before you share ❤️
Our tickets to NYC are officially booked & the countdown has begun 🗽📦 🏠 - 58 days until a new chapter begins + we have a home of our own again! That being said, today we are coming *home* to this boy and I'm realizing more and more we really are each other's home, wherever we go. 🌎 Feeling grateful and ready to squeeze him.
