So...we ended up making a book tree from the #extremestacks of Readers Digest books I posted about a week ago or so. And then I made some ornaments. Check out my blog post for more photos! #readers #booktree #vintagebooks #readersdigest
I put fresh greenery arrangements in two of my Mary vases for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. I love her so much. The mother of our Savior. @farmerrandy and I met on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception!! . #twelvedaysofmarylove #twelvedaysofmary #immaculateconception
I'm always drawn to the wall trees I've seen online. So now I tried one! It's in our basement bathroom and low light and ugly cord hanging...but so it goes. I made these wood burned ornaments on birch discs two years ago for our nature themed tree. Our tree is different this year, but I still wanted to find a place for these, so here they are! I had to come to this space to find an empty wall. 🙃And actually, it wasn't empty either. I moved a mirror. Ha! #pyrography #woodburning
I foraged greenery from our acreage yesterday before the rain started. The fresh cut pine smell is wonderful! I didn't have much on hand to add sparkle so I found some gold ribbon I had and spray painted some wheat and broom corn (which I had lots of) gold. I think some white flocked bits would be nice. It felt so good to be arranging live cuttings again. 😊 BTW, that round table and black tablecloth came from one of the Younkers store's liquidation sales for very little $. I like it here a lot even if it's a bit big. #christmasdecor #byarrangement #byarrangementbotanicalcreative #evergreens
I must have bought two rabbits masquerading as Readers Digest books. 🙄😏🙃😟 I thought I should find them all and bring them together. 102. Or so. I love them for decorating because the covers are 👌😍. #stackshappen #extremestacks Time to part with some!
I decided to make another little set of winter woolies for the wooden doll folks and tweak what I did before. (See previous post.) Smaller hook and finer yarn for starters. I'm glad I persisted because there is always something new to learn even in a simple project. Number one lesson always: It will take longer than you think. Why don't I actually learn that?! #crochet #scrapproject #pegdolls #crocheting
Cozying up a little family of peg dolls. My make it up as I go crocheting skills leave a little to be desired, ha! But, if I stick with it at least I'll know what to do differently. #crochet #crocheting #pegdolls #handmade
Kicking off the Christmas season at Lauritzen Gardens for the poinsettia show! @lauritzengardens
A little decking of the halls happened today. 🎄🎄🎄
@bonnieleahmartin and I made a short stop while out on an errand. A little vintage Christmas spirit! At Tapestries in Columbus.
@bonnieleahmartin went through my stash of vintage fabric a few months ago and she has finished her quilt top!! Now to tie and bind it. It's homey and sweet!
A few of the succulent cuttings I took from my outside garden and started indoors this fall. They seem to be taking off! If you've never had Cuban Oregano (I think also called Mexican Oregano) you need to get some! I love the fuzzy thick leaves and the smell is so wonderful! I have not tried cooking with it yet. I did try drying some and it took forever as the leaves really hold moisture. I just enjoyed it as a green plant and now I'm pretty sure it will grow well as a house plant. I also have cuttings in another East window and a West window and all are growing. Anyone use it in the kitchen? Fresh or dried? #succulents #cubanoregano #mexicanoregano #herbs #propogation #plantpropogation
I dried a lot of flowers this summer and fall and am so glad I did as I'm sure missing the flower garden already! I formed this wire grateful to hang up for the season, but I'm pretty sure I'll leave it up for a lot longer. The old rake was perfect to hang drieds from. 😊 . #repurpose #driedflowers #grateful #gratitude
Oh gosh, there we were 15 years ago. So much before this moment and so much after. What a great gift our marriage has been and is! We celebrated tonight with the two late comers to our life with grilled steaks and oven roasted veggies. (And a grilling beer for us, grilling root beers for them!) (For those who know me only through my blog or IG, my first husband passed away in 2000 so this day of happiness and new beginnings was hard to imagine.) @farmerrandy @laurenodon @bonnieleahmartin @willjmartin49 @claire_madeline
A shelf I've had for a long time has finally found a home in the basement. Whew. Came really close to selling it. Who'd have thought it would be so hard to find a home for? The depth of it, which I loved and why I bought it, was a real challenge. When I bought it, I had a number of places in mind to hang it. No, no, no, no, no....stash it away. Now I can find the what not to go on it! Or as @bonnieleahmartin would say the tchotchkes. Have a few of those around!
