As it’s raining we decided a little family outing for coffee and cake was needed. And we got photobombed by that lady. . . . . . .#family #sunday #rainyday #coffee #brunch #pbloggers #northantsblogger
We’ve lived in our village for 8 months now but have only just started to explore the little walks and cut throughs, it really is quite pretty! #northamptonshire #village #villagelife #northantsblogger

Snow day number 4. I think we’ll stay wrapped up in the warm today! #snow #snowday #northamptonshire #northantsblogger
It’s been a long time since I’ve posted on Instagram and even longer since I’ve posted on my blog. I think my last blog post was scheduled for mid November, just a few days after Rudy was born. It’s funny how his birth has made me rethink about what’s important to me – and alongside that, what I now have the time for. I started my blog back in 2012 as a way of writing for myself. Being a writer by day means I sometimes have to write things that aren’t of personal interest to me so I wanted a space to express my thoughts and reflect. I wanted to write about what I wanted to write about, in my own voice, without being dictated to by a house style guide. But it’s funny how blogging has changed so much over the years. There are now millions of bloggers out there and it’s become a numbers game. There’s the constant need to be and look the best. I’ve felt a bit out of place for a while and like I’d lost my way. And now that Rudy is here I’ve realised that not only do I currently not have the spare time to write my blog or post heavily stylised photos on Instagram every day, I’m not sure I want to. My blog, and to some degree, my Instagram grid have become exactly what I didn’t want – something that’s for others rather than myself. The spare time I do have needs to be spent on things I get genuine enjoyment out of, such as being with my family and friends, going for long walks, indulging in a good book, snuggled up in front of the fire, going out for coffee and making the most of every second with my son. So you may see far less of me, or you may just see a shift in the content I share and the way in which I share it. I’m not quite sure yet. But one thing’s for sure, my silence thus far has brought a huge sense of relief so I need to continue to listen to my gut.

Here are my #2017bestnine. It’s no surprise that most of them are about the new addition to our family as he’s been the highlight of the year (and my life, TBF). Can’t wait to see what next year brings!

So this little man made an appearance on Wednesday! Say hello to Rudy. Here he is with his proud dad. We’re both so in love with him and excited about the new journey ahead as we get to know our new little boy! 💙
