When Courtney was 34 years old and 37 weeks pregnant, she was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer. You can provide quality breast healthcare to Texas moms like Courtney by helping us reach our summer goal of funding 400 mammograms.
#ICYMI: Trina Hans, our Grants and Compliance Manager, shared important information on @fox26houston with @deneigebroom this past weekend. Last year, we served over 2,700 women under the age of 40. Through our summer fundraising goal we're committed to serve 400 women and help 50 women affected by Hurricane Harvey through a $10,000 grant from the @unitedwayhouston. Stressful, lifechanging events like the damage from Hurricane Harvey or the blessing of a new child can impact a woman's health in many ways. Help us provide vital breast health services to those who need it most. Donate today via link in bio.
10-year breast cancer survivor, Mitra, was only 27 when she came to The Rose. After her diagnosis, Mitra found comfort in attending our support group for young women. “Everyone was further along in their treatments so they were all like big sisters to me and they continue to be,” she says. At The Rose; You're too young for a mammogram, will never be said. Help us put women like Mitra first.
On June 22, our 3D Mobile Mammography Coach will be rolling into West Columbia City Hall from 9am-4pm. Finacial sponsorship is available for those who qualify. Make your appointment using code “WEST” via link in bio.
Our Co-Founder and CEO, Dorothy Gibbons, has been one of our primary grant writers since 1986. Her writing skills have convinced philanthropic organizations to help The Rose provide breast healthcare for thousands of women. She captured many of the stories she has shared over the years about the women The Rose serves in her first non-fiction work, a memoir entitled, “The Women of The Rose.” Add it to your Summer reading list.
Dorothy Gibbons, CEO and Co-Founder of The Rose, met Abel Arguelles in 2014. Abel is a longtime donor to Locks of Love. Having lost his mother to cancer when he was 16, Abel has kept his hair long since the early '90s. Even though, as an outdoorsman, he says he hates long hair with a passion, he grows it to provide wigs for children undergoing chemotherapy. #TBT #TheRoseHouston

Leaders across Houston came together to join in the fight against breast cancer for “I Will Survive Breast Cancer,” an evening of awareness and support. Making breast healthcare a reality for more African-American women is the reason behind this kickoff event and the annual The Rose Takes Center Stage fundraiser that follows. Concluding with a celebration of unity to the tune of Destiny Child’s hit single, “I’m a Survivor,” 25 attendees joined our Army! Thank you to everyone who attended. More pictures via link in bio.
African-American women are dying from breast cancer at a higher rate than any other ethnicity. Today, Thursday, May 17, we will host our annual friend-raiser to celebrate breast cancer survivors and help more women in our communities receive access to quality breast healthcare. We hope to count on you in our efforts to support all women in Southeast Texas. #TheRoseHouston
It’s #WomensHealthcareMonth and we want to remind you to schedule your annual mammogram at The Rose. A big thank you not only to @reliantenergy Reliant Gives whose $20k donation to The Rose will help care for 100 women, but also to the enormous community effort we witnessed. We were overwhelmed to see such a coming together of our past and present supporters. Having 25 Reliant volunteers doing all different type of activities on May 10 from stuffing letters, to greeting patients, to putting packets together for our biker’s event, to purging files, to even organizing keys was an incredible gift as well. Congratulations to the other nonprofits that were also awarded during this fantastic awareness campaign: SIRE and @casa_of_collin_county. #TheRoseHouston
