My little Snowdog! 🐶❄☃️
No matter how hard the climb is, it's always worth it for the view! ⛰ Flying high and chasing Golden Eagles 🦅 #scotland
Hiking around Tresco island in the Isles of Scilly, even with clouds in the skies the views are incredible! ⛅ Breathing in the sea air... I miss the sea living in middle England! Makes me love it that little bit more 🏝😁
Check out this amazing wildlife moment we had with an Atlantic Grey Seal yesterday on the Isles of Scilly! #gopro 👌@scillysealsnorkelling @scillywildlife @gopro
Snorkelling with seals on the Isles of Scilly in Cornwall yesterday. Hands down one of my top wildlife experiences!! What a poser this Atlantic Grey Seal is! 🙊 Spent an hour swimming in the sea with these wild animals. They are so curious, coming close to check you out and even nibble at your fins! Thanks to the amazing team @scillysealsnorkelling
Hello from the beautiful Isles of Scilly! 😎🌞 Time for some adventures this week... 🎒🐬
Who's feeling the love today?! 💕🙈 These beautiful seabirds are razorbills, aptly named after the very sharp edges to their hooked upper bill which enables them to grasp fish and defend itself against predators.
In the wild Puffins can live for around 20 years. Their main predators being hungry gulls, which can snatch puffins mid-flight or swoop down and take them from the ground - so they need to stay alert!! 🐥
Moths vibrate their wings to warm up their flight muscles and increase their metabolic rate. Some moths also do this when under threat. This is a Pine Hawkmoth I caught in my moth trap. A few minutes later it disappeared off!
Llamas are native to Peru in South America, but I had the pleasure of walking this beautiful creature across the Ashdown Forest! Such characterful animals 😀 #llama
This is a Ghost moth, a female one, the males are white, like a ghost 😉. One of things I love about moth trapping is how close you can get to nature. Early in the mornings when I go out to check my trap it's amazing how many moths will casually walk onto my hand. Gives me time to really study these incredible night-time creatures 🌛
Such love for these little birds 🐥#puffin
More from my garden moth trap... Caught 42 of these Scarlet Tiger Moths, which are actually both day and night flyers. Unusually for tiger moths, the Scarlet Tiger has developed mouth parts (proboscis), allowing them to feed on nectar. Some moths do not eat at all as adults, but live on stored fat built up when larvae. Moths live to breed and once that job is done, they die. They are very beautiful moths that can be seen around June and July, so keep an eye for them!!
A puffin's bill changes colour throughout the year. In the winter the bill is a dull grey colour, but in spring it changes to this outrageous orange!! Scientists believe this change occurs to help puffins attract potential mates.
Oh yes people, that's a BEAVER!! 😀 First time I've ever seen one and they were way bigger than I expected! Such gentle creatures and thankfully they are starting to make a come back in the UK, slowly, but it's amazing to have them!
It's that time of year again when the waterways are teeming with beautiful damselflies. Summer is officially here! ☀️
