My dog, Sapphire, tested out paddle boarding for the first time today 😁 She can be quite a nervous pup at times, being a rescue dog she has her stresses, but paddle boarding she loved. Simply walked onto the board, sat down and off we went!!! She loved being able to watch everyone else on the river and see all the birds. Now we can go wildlife spotting on the river together! 😚🐶
Happy National #moth Night, which actually runs all weekend!! We set two moth traps last night and caught 140 moths and identified 40 different species. June is a great month for moths, especially as you can see hawkmoths like this beauty. We caught 3 Elephant Hawkmoths, their colours are just stunning!! Worth getting up at 5am for... 😁🌄 #mothsofinstagram
How gorgeous is little sea parrot?!?🐧 Puffins are surprisingly small birds that fly like clockwork toys. Wind them up and off they go! This little fella has just caught some sand eels, a favourite dish for puffins. Best time to see puffins is May, June and July as come early August they'll leave the UK again to head back out to sea. Scientists are still trying to understand more about where and what these charismatic birds get up to once they leave our shores in August.
Happy #worldoceansday 🐳 being a #pisces I love being near water and the #ocean 🐙 Scottish waters are teeming with incredible wildlife. We took a rib out and saw porpoises! 🐬 as well as lots of sea birds, including puff puff PUFFINS!! One of my favourite birds 🐦 The Firth of Clyde is one of best places in the UK to see cetaceans.
Would you believe me if I said this incredible beach was in Scotland!? 😎⛵☀️ Machir Bay on the isle of Islay off the west coast of Scotland. We had this incredible sandy beach all to ourselves in glorious sunshine! Who needs the med when we've got Costa del Scotland!! 👌
It's almost impossible to watch a sunset and not dream! Such a beautiful sunny day, and I enjoyed spending every moment outside, running, cycling and dog walking 🐶 Certainly helped to kick start my spring time fitness! 🚴🏼
Happy #friday13th everyone! Found these cheeky faces on a pile of logs! Do you think they're funny 😂 or a bit spooky?! 👻 They made me smile! 😆
You know you're a #zoologist when you spent your Saturday night toadally fascinated by 13 toads having an orgy!! 🐸 #epic #wildlife
One of my happy places... Natural History museums 🐿 So much knowledge in one little place and housed in an architecturally beautiful building. I can spend hours wandering, reading, relaxing. Love them, appreciate them, we are so lucky to have them! 🤓
Excited to have my work for WWT featured in The Observer newspaper today and The Guardian online! And on my birthday! 🎂 We're engaging local community groups, school children and #volunteers to protect the waterways in #slough from #litter #microplastics and unseen threats. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2018/mar/17/river-threats-drugs-plastics-chemicals-environment Photo credit @andyhallpix
Kindness is like snow, it beautifies everything is covers ❄
Happy World Wildlife Day!! 🐿 Pine martens are such inquisitive animals. I had the pleasure of watching them up close at Glenloy Wildlife in Scotland. Link in my bio to my blog post 😀 If you're in Scotland an evening at Glenloy is well worth the trip!
Just captured this beautiful photo of a fieldfare in my front garden! Maybe #stormemma is bringing them closer... 🐦🤔
Beautiful frosty sunrise today! ❄❄❄
My little Snowdog! 🐶❄☃️
