We were enjoying our drive- crossing through beautiful valleys and lush green fields En route to Trongsa and were pleasantly surprised to see a beautiful Chorten (later we found out it was famous Chendebji Chorten), modelled after Nepal’s Bouddhanath Stupa. We parked our car on the roadside and sat there for a while! Weather changed in few minutes and it started drizzling, perfect for the pictures:)!! Pro tip: This makes a good stopover from the car/bike ride , there is a nice cafe close by!!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Interesting Fact: Chendebji Chorten was built in the 18th century by the Buddhist Lama Ngesup Tshering Wangchuk to ward off evil spirits and demons. Unusually for Bhutan, this Chorten is a shrine to an important Buddhist monk and (as I mentioned earlier) is styled after iconic Bouddhanath Stupa in Nepal, including the signature eyes looking at the four cardinal points. Next to the Chorten is a long prayer wall adorned with holy Buddhist scriptures. Chendebji Chorten attracts a large number of pilgrims during Sambha Lhundrup Molam Chenmo, a festival held during the ninth month of the Bhutanese calendar. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #bhutan #photocommune #chendebjichorten #chendebji #centralbhutan #bhutanesearchitecture #idrisphotography #travelingram #igtravel #instatravel #instago #instadaily #photooftheday #bhutan_ig #bhutandiaries🇧🇹 #decadeold #happycountry #bhutan🇧🇹 #bhutantrip #mytravelgram #travelgram #happinessisaplace #indianphotographers

The 'Tiger's Nest Monastery' is one of the Himalaya's most incredible sights, miraculously perched on the side of a sheer cliff 900m above the Paro valley. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In a trek of about 2-3 hours we saw bright sunshine, misty mountains and it even rained:) ⭐️Pro tip- start really early no matter if the sky is clear (it might ☔️ rain anytime:) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Interesting fact: Monastery was constructed in 1692, around the cave where Guru Rinpoche first meditated, the event that introduced Buddhism into Bhutan. There is a legend that Guru Rinpoche was carried from Tibet to this location on the back of a tigress, thus giving it the name “Tiger’s Nest.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #bhutan #tigersnest #photocommune #tigernest #paro #tigernestmonastery #tigersnestmonastery #bhutanography #bhutan_ig #parotaktsangmonastery #bhutantravel #bhutanesearchitecture #idrisphotography #travelingram #igtravel #instatravel #instago #instadaily #photooftheday #bhutandiaries🇧🇹 #decadeold #happycountry #bhutan🇧🇹 #bhutantrip #mytravelgram #travelgram

Bhutanese woman cutting vegetables while sitting with her daughter inside her traditional house in Punakha. Bhutan. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Interesting fact: the phallus is an ancient symbol commonly painted on houses to ward off evil spirits. Phallus paintings in Bhutan are esoteric symbols, which have their origins in the Chimi Lhakhang monastery near Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan. The village monastery was built in honour of Lama Drukpa Kunley who lived in the 15-16th century and who was popularly known as the Mad Saint or “Divine Madman” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #bhutan #photocommune #bhutantravel #bhutanesearchitecture #idrisphotography #bhutan_ig #travelingram #igtravel #instatravel #instago #instadaily #photooftheday #streetphotocollective #FriendsInStreets #dreaminstreets #bhutandiaries🇧🇹 #decadeold #roadtrip #happycountry #bhutan🇧🇹 #bhutantrip #mytravelgram #travelgram #punakha #ilovebhutan

Monks preparing butter tea inside kitchen at the Prakhar Goemba in Bumthang region. Bhutan ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Facts: •No traffic-lights in Bhutan : A set of traffic lights were once used for one day in Thimphu, but they were removed because the locals complained that the traffic lights were ugly and they still preferred the policemen :) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ •Bhutanese wearing badges most of them wear at least one badge with kings picture!! Are you thinking he is an awesome actor Sanjay Mishra in a monk’s attire & makeup for his movie shot ?? :) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It was in one of the small chambers of monastery in Bhumthang region. I fell in love with the frescoes and wanted to know more about it, unfortunately he didn’t understand Hindi or English but I remember the sweet smile he gave me when I said Kadrin chhey La (thank you) before leaving!! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Few facts: •Bhutan is one of the last countries in the world to introduce television to its people. (TK was often asked, ma’am where is ur saree and all the jewellery which Indian married women wear like in your tv series) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ •Bhutanese manners dictate that you are to refuse food whenever it’s offered to you. The tradition is to say the words “meshu meshu” and cover your mouth with your hands. You can give in, though, after two or three offers. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ •In the world of cut-throat dirty politics & corruption, it is surprising as well as inspiring to see king of Bhutan ‘Jigme Singye Wangchuck’ making way for democracy in the country! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #bhutan #buddhistmonk #photocommune #bhutantravel #monasteryfresco #bhutanesearchitecture #buddhistmonk #buddhalove #prayerwheel #buddhism🙏 #idrisphotography #bhutan_ig #bhutanese #bhutantourism #buddhistmonastery #bhutandiaries🇧🇹 #peacefuleasyfeeling #decadeold #roadtrip #bhutandiaries #prayerhall #sanjaymishra #buddhistculture #windowlight #happycountry #bhutan🇧🇹 #bhutantrip

3 friends🤗 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Some images and decade old stories coming your way from Bhutan 🇧🇹 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ BHUTAN, ‘The Land of the Thunder Dragon’ is no ordinary country. It is the last great Himalayan kingdom, shrouded in mystery and magic, where a traditional Buddhist culture carefully embraces global developments. There is so much to absorb, you can explore the dzongs, marvel at the Himalayas, eat chilies and cheese, learn about Buddhism, and have one of the most unique travel experiences of your life. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It might surprise you that Bhutan is also the first carbon-negative country in the world, meaning it reduces more carbon in the atmosphere through various offsetting measures than it produces as a nation each year. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I made a road trip to Bhutan by car, drove from Delhi-Nepal-West Bengal, entered through Jaigaon (Indian border) to Phuntsholing border in southern Bhutan. Had an amazing time in probably one of the most beautiful & peaceful country in the world. TK and me have so many stories to share of this 30+ days long trip!! Decade old stories coming your way soon:) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #sharnamgachhami #buddhist #photocommune #bhutandiaries #bhutantravel #bhutanesearchitecture #buddhistmonk #buddhalove #jaibhim #buddhism🙏 #idrisphotography #bhutan_ig #bhutanese #buddhistmonastery #bhutandiaries🇧🇹 #peacefuleasyfeeling #decadeold #roadtrip

The courtyard can accommodate more than 25,000 people. There are three domes on the terrace which are surrounded by the two minarets. On the floor, a total of 899 black borders are marked for worshippers. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ P.S: Mosque is currently closed till 30th June 2020 (due to coronavirus)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #jamamasjiddelhi #eid2018 #delhi #dilliwale #photocommune #delhi_gram #delhi_diaries #showcasedelhi #India #_coi #fisheye #spicollective #myspc #urbanstreetphotogallery #eyephotomagazine #tspf #insidephotos #streetphotographersmagazine #prayersfortheworld #ourstreets #life_is_street #idrisphotography #zonestreet #friendsinstreet #friendsinperson#ilovemyindia🇮🇳 #indianmuslims

He was born in Badayun in Uttar Padesh in 1238. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ He became a disciple of the famous sufi saint Baba Farid. It is believed that he would go to Ajodhan (now in Pakistan) to spend the month of holy Ramzan for his master’s blessings. It was on his third visit to Ajodhan that Baba Farid made him his successor. Shortly after that, when Nizāmuddīn returned to Delhi, he received news that Baba Farid had passed away. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Hazrat Nizamuddin, like his predecessors, stressed love as a means of realizing God. For him his love of God implied a love of humanity. His vision of the world was marked by a highly evolved sense of religious diversity and kindness. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ He died in 1325. His shrine, the Nizamuddin Dargah is located in Delhi and the present structure was built in 1562. People of all faiths, through the year, visit the shrine though it becomes a place for special congregation during the death anniversary known as Urss. In fact 716th urs ended yesterday with no outsiders allowed in Dargah due to coronavirus:( ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #nizamuddin #dargah #nizamuddindargah #hazratnizamuddin #nizamuddinaulia #mausoleum #tomb #sufi #Delhigram #delhidiaries #idrisphotography #delhi_igers #delhibloggers #storiesuntold #delhigram #delhistreets #sufisaint #peace #peaceofmind #travel #travelgram #khwajagaribnawaz #sufism #delhidiaries #dilliwaliye #womenofindia #womenpower💪 #ilovemyindia🇮🇳
