This is my favorite picture of me in my garden last year 🌱 • I missed #EarthDay yesterday, but I'm feeling a little better today and still need to profess my undying gratitude for this beautiful planet and Mother Nature 🙏🏼💙🌏 • Gardening & growing my own food has changed my life in so many positive ways over these past few years. I have greatly improved my relationship with food, developed A LOT more patience, and expanded my understanding of how plants hold the key to our health & happiness 🗝 • I want us ALL to celebrate the successes we have in growing our own food & plants this year, so be sure to start using the NEW HASHTAG (👉🏼👉🏼 #TheMillennialGarden ) as you start your spring and summer garden! You may get featured and you will get to connect with others who love gardening as much as you do! • The Millennial Garden is my fun, side passion project I've been dreaming of bringing to life for years. My goal is to create a place where all generations can come together and celebrate their love for simple backyard gardening & new age homesteading 🌾💚 • I can't wait to share the full project with you later this week!! 🤗🤗 I hope you'll join me 😘 • Now, I want to know!! When grocery shopping ='s walking down to the root cellar in your basement, now that's fast food!! 😍😂🍴 I am almost intimidated with the amount of butternut, spaghetti and acorn squash we have down there, but I'm sure I'll find a use for them 😉 Coming up next, Butternut Squash Bisque 😍😍😍 what's your favorite use for butternuts??
Fresh from the ground, this is the first year we have been successful in growing our own Potatoes 😍🌱🍴 Potatoes get a bad rap, but these perfect red potatoes are full of fiber, B vitamins & potassium PLUS the love of Mother Nature herself 🌎🍃❤️how do you like or enjoy your potatoes??
I am so thankful for my garden which continues to feed my family even in the winter ❤️🌱❄️ Celery is hearty enough to withstand the snow and stays nice and crisp in the cool weather. I usually snip pieces off throughout the year to use here and there, but when you're ready to harvest, cut the whole bottom off as seen here! ☺️ Have you ever grown your own celery before?
Suddenly, with 2 feet of snow outside, turning on the oven seems like an amazing idea ❄️😍 the house is toasty warm and smells amazing with these beautiful purple potatoes and homegrown rosemary roasting away. Did you know that beautiful purple color is more than just pretty too look at, it's an indicator of the powerful antioxidant, anthocyanin? 💜💜 Have you ever had a purple potato before?
It is a true gift from Mother Nature to still have fresh raspberries growing in my garden 😍🌱❤️ you see, #RochesterNY is the 3rd snowiest city in the country, and while we are bracing for the snow, we are so happily enjoying this mild weather we've had!! 😄❄️ #itsthelittlethings
If we all do one random act of kindness daily, we might just set the world in the right direction ✌🏼&❤️ A big thank you to my neighbors for bring me these home grown apple/pear things 😂 if a pear and a golden delicious yellow apple had a baby, this would be it 👼🏼 A Papple?? My dad said they were Asian pears, but I've never had one so I'm not sure. Anyways, they taste amazing and made my day. I hope I can make someone else's day today, and I hope you can too. Xoxo 😘
Have you ever tried a kabocha squash before?? I never have, luckily my sweet neighbors brought me this one to try 😃❤️ it's a Japanese winter squash! Anyone have any good recipes to try with this beauty?
I can't believe I was able to harvest all of this from the garden this late into the growing season 😍🌱❤️ I am appreciating every warm day we're having, I know they won't last much longer ❄️🌿 Do you still have produce growing in your garden?
My fall is officially complete 😍🍂 I roasted my homegrown pumpkin seeds with coconut oil & cinnamon sugar. How do you season yours??
