Halloween in the hood! Love our neighborhood and sweet friends we get to do this with every year! Harp had 50’s day at school today so he got to dress up twice. Then our cuties aka a vicious Dinosaur, Bumblebee Transformer and Power Ranger hit the streets to get some loot! 🍬🍫🍭 . I threw together a last minute costume thanks to some friends who had naked baby dolls to spare. I call this “the tired mama” look which is on point thanks to this season of life, poop (aka 🍫) on my face, a kid on every part of my body, frizzed out hair and dark circles. And I’m pretty sure I had to pee after this and was interrupted. 😂 #momlife #itsthebestlife . #Halloween2018 was a blast! 🧟♂️🎃🦖 Who else is eating candy for breakfast tomorrow? 😂
My first picture eating lunch in the school cafeteria with my first baby. Students, tables and all. Bittersweet moments that I dont want to forget. Harper is loving kindergarten! He’s already reading me books (with a little help) and brings home something every day that he’s super proud of. This mama heart is so happy. . I’ve been wanting to write out the little details and my thoughts on him starting this new adventure. I finally got it up and it’s on the blog. Check out the link in the profile if you want to hear my prayer for his first year. 📚✏️🍎
Dear 1 in 5, • I see you. I know what it feels like to have those days that don’t seem to be worth fighting for. I know the range of emotions, the peaks and valleys. I know them all too well. I know the overwhelm, the darkness and despair, the moments of questioning yourself wondering what is wrong with me. Believe me when I say, you are not alone. • You are more than this battle you are fighting. You are worthy, friend. You are worthy of LOVE. You are worthy of SELF-CARE. You are worthy of HAPPINESS. You are worthy of KNOWING. You are worthy of RECOVERY. You are worthy of GRACE. You are worthy of RESPECT. YOU ARE WORTHY and you are STRONGER than this struggle. • Don’t believe the voice in your head that whispers lies to you. You may feel defeated during these trials but know your pain has a purpose and it’s only temporary. You...we WILL make it out on the other side. We can’t see it when we’re in the valley but we never know how we can be used to be a blessing or an encouragement to others down the road. • I truly believe that everything happens for a reason. God did not create us to live in a spirit of fear or chaos. He uses every moment and circumstance for something greater. Better days are coming, friend. • Hardships often prepare ordinary people for extraordinary destiny. C.S. Lewis. • Follow along with the rest of the #dear1in5 letters. Up next is @th3littlestavenger
Hi, friends! Hope y’all had a great, long weekend. We had a lazy one and it was fabulous! We did a lot of rocking on the front porch and the boys spent every day running through the sprinkler soaking up these warm days. ___ We also started binge watching Jack Ryan on Amazon Prime. It’s freaking amazing!! If you’re obsessed with The Office like us, then you’ll love it because Jim is in it. Have y’all seen it yet? If not, ya need to watch the first episode. You’ll be hooked! ___ We’re always looking for good ones to add to our list. What shows do you watch?
✏️ Harper - Age 5 . 📚 First day of Kindergarten- 2018 . 🦕 Wants to be a Paleontologist when he grows up . ⚽️ He loves soccer and the color blue . 💙 Has the biggest heart and is the best big brother a kid could ask for . 🎤He’s obsessed with music and singing . My baby started kindergarten yesterday! 😭 These are the things I want to remember when I look back at this photo. I know every mama gets to this day and wonders where the time went. It seems like yesterday he was Finn’s age and I was getting snuggles and gushy kisses on his plump little face. It’s so bittersweet but I’m so excited for this new chapter for my sweet boy. . He’s full of personality and he’s the smartest, quick witted 5 year old I know. God has BIG things in store for you, Harper Gray. I can’t wait to see how you excel and grow in this new chapter of our lives. Love you to the moon and back, buddy!
My boys look forward to our country fair ALL YEAR LONG! They literally ask me when it’s going to be here every time we pass the grounds. Lol! This has become a yearly tradition that we love and look forward to for the past 3 years since we’ve been back in Tennessee. . Sometimes as moms we forget to get out from behind the camera and get pictures WITH our families! The days are fleeting and I want to remember all of the moments and have pictures to look back on. . Mamas, pass the camera to someone else and get in that frame with your babies. These moments are the ones we’re going to want to remember. ❤️ #documentyourdays #momswithcameras
Happy Friday, friends! I have a sitter here this morning playing with the boys while I get some things done around the house. One of which is cutting some of these pretty hydrangeas out of my flowers beds without worrying about my boys playing in the street. 😭 My children are fearless! #boymom . Did you see my last post where I shared a little about my struggles? I had some incredible women who joined me in the chat. I want to keep that convo going. If you didn’t see it, check it out. . Let’s talk about #selfcare! Today for me, this is what I’m doing to decompress from the week. My sitter is here for 3 hours this morning so I can have some quiet-ish time to be selfish. I made some flower arrangements to put around the house, I’m drinking my coffee while I work on a blog post and I had time to read my bible. . It’s the little things that go such a long way to refresh my soul, mind and body. . What ways do you practice self care? ❤️
✨ Mental Health Loop ✨ Let’s get real for a minute. Did you know that 1 in 5 people suffer from some type of mental illness? Did you know that 1 in 7 women suffer from postpartum depression? Up to 50% of individuals with PPD are never detected. Another fact most people probably don’t know...suicide accounts for about 20% of postpartum deaths and is the second most common cause of mortality in postpartum women. . I’ve always wanted to be vocal about my experience with this because it’s not talked about enough. It started for me after my second son. I dealt with the baby blues and that turned into postpartum depression and anxiety. I’ve struggled with it from that point to now since having my babies. . There’s a stigma in our culture that needs to be torn down about these topics. I didn’t know anything about this after having my first son. I had to really research since having symptoms after my second son to pinpoint what was happening to me. It wasn’t normal and no one talked about it. . 1 in 7 women, y’all!! The statistics are unbelievable. We can’t afford to be ignorant on this topic. If you’re struggling, mama, please know you’re not alone. Reach out for help. Whether that be someone you know locally, someone professionally or a friend on social media. There is hope even when you can’t see it. Know you are loved and worth it. Take care of yourself. . Those of you that don’t struggle with this, chances are if you have friends or family, which you do, then you know someone who deals with this. They may not appear like they’re struggling. They may act like they’re strong but internally, they’re weary. Reach out if you have that inkling or have clues that this person might need you. You never know what a blessing you might could be to someone. . If you’re #1in5, double tap this and drop a comment below! TGIF, friends!! Why was this the longest week ever?! 🤦🏻♀️ We’re looking forward to the weekend and Daddy being home!! . I made an ice dinosaur fossil dig for the boys we’re going to do later today to beat this heat. Then this weekend I’m smoking a bunch of food, we’re going to have ice cream and lots and lots of family time! Cheers to the freaking weekend! 🙌🏼 . What are y’all up to this weekend?
