Cake tasters were found yesterday, pieces of cake were distributed and I got to catch up with friends which is always a lovely bonus! Thank you to all who helped and tasted this cake. So the Greek yoghurt cake received good reviews, not too sweet, with a slight zing of the yoghurt... a good addition to offer in my range of cakes. The filling results were mixed... the yoghurt buttercream was well received but it seems the lemon curd gets mixed results. Some loved it, others not so much. I’m not surprised, lemon curd can be a bit polarising as in you do either love it or you don’t. So the lemon curd will be offered as an optional filling flavour. Thanks again taste testers for taking this cake off my hands, I’m glad this cake isn’t staring at me when I open the fridge whispering ‘eat me, eat me’! 🤣 This cake is one of my 6” midi cakes, and would serve 16 or so people. #bakedbyfiona #mkr #bakeoff #edibleflowers
Test cake. I’ve decided it’s time to add some new cake flavours to the repertoire. First up, a Greek yoghurt cake (yes, the same recipe as the house cake from this week). I’ve filled this one with yoghurt Swiss meringue buttercream, lemon curd and raspberry jam. Now if only I could find some local taste testers 😉 Anyone like a piece in exchange for honest feedback? 🙋🏼♀️ Another note about this cake... I’m liking the rough edges around the top!

This week’s house cake. To get me in the mood for my upcoming @greekislandholiday! • This is a new cake for me to bake. It’s a Greek yoghurt cake, Γιαουρτόπιτα or yiaourtopita. And it’s delicious. Not nearly as sweet as my regular butter cakes I make and it has a lovely tangy zing of the Greek yoghurt which is a major ingredient in this cake, and the yoghurt also gives it a lovely damp crumb. • I’ve topped this cake with a thin layer of raspberry jam and, in keeping with the Greek theme, I’ve put a generous layer of slightly sweetened @eviayoghurt Greek yoghurt and blueberries... drizzled with honey! • This cake baked was baked in the @nordicware charlotte pan. There’s something very satisfying about this little basket. There’s 4 different varieties of heirloom broccoli here, picked this afternoon from the veggie garden. Some of the broccoli has bolted thanks to the last few warm Sydney days, getting away very quickly and flowering. The heads are certainly not big, nothing like those in the shops. But they are homegrown, nurtured for the last few months... as I said satisfying and rewarding. #broccoli #homegrown
