While many people come to a website via a blog article or other subpage, they generally go to the homepage second or third. For that reason, it’s important to have a beautiful header section that has a clear call-to-action or tagline with your website’s purpose explained. If you blog about fashion trends, say ‘Fashion forward trends for working women’, or whatever it is you do. This lets people see immediately whether or not your site is for them. The benefit of this is that it saves your visitors from having to scroll to figure out if they’re in the right spot. Many people, when faced with this, will close out of your website instead of taking the time. Reduce this problem with your header. Spend the time (or money on a designer) to get an engaging image on your homepage ‘above the fold’, which means in plain view when your website first loads. It should fit your brand messaging and explain what you do. Bonus points if it contains a button to lead visitors to your about page or a landing page that explains your services 😍 . . That's it! Day 2 is all about developing your Brand Statement! 😉 Spend extra time writing engaging versions of your brand statement for your #socialmedia profiles. Your social media accounts are huge traffic drivers when done right, and making that effort can pay off big. We all spent endless time crafting the perfect statements for our resumes when we worked in the corporate world, so why should this be any different? Don’t repeat a bland 10-word statement over and over. 😩 Instead, craft them to convert. Use hashtags in your Twitter and Instagram bios so people can search for you. Include links to your website or other accounts. Tips for bios that stand out: • Be original, avoiding overused buzzwords. Everyone’s account says they’re an #expert in their niche, #unique in how they do it, or #creative beyond scope. Say something different. • Brag about yourself. Instead of taking the same path as everyone else by talking about who you are, talk about what you’ve accomplished. Link impressive people you’re working with and amazing reviews you’ve had. • Be yourself. You’re a human. People want to see it. Make a joke at your own expense and talk about yourself in the first person. Include interesting hobbies or facts that will draw people in. Showcase your personality. . . Hey girl heeeyyyy! It's time! Day 1 of my 10 Days of Branding Tips! I'm so excited, I'm going to jump right in 😊 . Your brand and its story should have a unique personality to it. If you haven’t figured out what it is yet, consider developing a brand strategy, which will help you determine your brand’s personality, tone, and key expertise. As well as your visual design. Once you have those figured out, you need to keep them consistent in everything your brand touches: website, blog posts, social media campaigns, phone conversations, email, and overall look. It’s not only about your images looking the same or your logo being included in a graphic. It’s about you talking to your audience in the same tone and spreading the same message. Only then will people be drawn to you. . When working on your brand strategy, focus on things like: • YOUR BRAND PERSONALITY Are you the friendly next-door gal or the edgy mogul with a bite? Your personality should shine through so you’re not having to constantly check your tone. • YOUR WRITING TONE When people think of you, will they think of business-style writing or emojis and text abbreviations? If you have a blog post that’s business but a tweet that’s emojis, people will be confused about the real you. • THE EXPERTISE YOU PROJECT What is your brand synonymous for? Information? Forward thinking? Entertaining rants? Figure out what you want people to think of when they hear your name, and make that the end goal of everything you post. . Consider all of that while you work on your brand messaging. Then translate it into everything you write/post/say/do. Consistency helps you spread your brand message far and wide. . Happy Saturday ya'll! I'm working hard today to get my biz and life organized. It's amazing how quickly things can get out of control when you're sucked into a creative binge 😂 So it's a day of spring cleaning (for my house) and a day of filing (for my biz). And maybe, if the weather stays nice, I'll get outside to take some photos before it storms tonight. That would be a nice balance—a little cleaning, a little organizing, and a little creative.
