I delivered this amazing wedding gallery last night! I love when I can get images back to clients within a few weeks. Don't wait months for your wedding images - my turn around is no more than three weeks. It's all a part of the HJP Experience! I know I want everything right now, and I think it's important to make that happen for my amazing couples. I hope Nate and Tovah love them as much as I do!
WEDDING TIP WEDNESDAY DO AN ENGAGEMENT SESSION: Even if your wedding photography package doesn't include an engagement shoot, you should do it! They are a great way to not only practice in front of the camera but to get to know your photographer before the wedding day. For most couples, the first 10 minutes or so can be awkward. It is awkward for them - usually because they have never been models - and awkward for the photographer because each couple moves together differently - some poses that work for certain couples do not work for others. Why not get that out of the way before your big day? I do love me some engagement sessions! Visit www.hollyjohnsphoto.com for more info on my engagement sessions or call me at 815-621-7530 to set your session date.
I now know why Mama Bear’s porridge was cold. Thanks for always making sure mine was just right first. Love you, Mama.
So, this post is way later than I had hoped, but I'm glad it's here now! I had an amazing night with Josh & Katie. First of all, it was gorgeous out - I am so thankful for beautiful weather. And second, these two were so easy to work with. Going into engagement sessions, I am always nervous. I never know how the three of us are going to work together. I don't know how these two walked away from our time together, but I felt amazing. Gah, I just love super cute couples! Here are a few of my favorites so far. Thanks for dealing with the bugs and weird poses with me, Josh and Katie! I can't wait to do it again on your big day!
WEDDING TIP WEDNESDAY THINK ABOUT THE LIGHT: When looking at venues think about the light in each room. Is the bedroom you’re getting ready in small, pokey, and cramped? Are the ceremony room walls covered in dark wood with small windows? Remember, photography is essentially painting with light and if there isn’t any, there’s only so much your photographer can do without using a flash. When choosing your venue and time of day, keep lighting in mind. If your wedding is outdoors, the best light happens 1-2 hours before sunset. If your wedding is indoors, try to avoid buildings with high dark ceilings and few windows. Since natural light will look much better in your photos, try to plan your wedding when the room will be the brightest. By the way, photographers hate fluorescent lights. They make you look green! So pretty, oh so pretty! This beautiful baby arrived today. Happy early birthday to me!! Now, when's that next wedding... I want to play with my new toy 📷💕
I am so in love with Nate & Tovah. While it is hard for me to understand how anyone would not want to spend 4 hours doing portraits (lol), these two let me drag them around their church for many different looks. I love this photo. It's so sweet and so them. Nate and Tovah, I cannot thank you enough for allowing me to be a part of your big day!
What a night! I was so nervous heading off to my first engagement session of the year, but David and Erin made me feel at home. I love couples who match my personality. I had so much fun laughing with these two while I drug them all around Williams Tree Farm. I cannot wait for your big day! I loved so many images, guys. It was so hard to pick which ones to post tonight! Gah, aren't they perfect together? #williamstreefarm #rockton #rocktonphotographer #illinoisphotographer #engagement #hjpfam
