Bringing the outside in by making some refreshing #mojitos with mint from the backyard. I love our new backyard set up, but with crazy high temperatures like today’s, it’s nice to enjoy a drink in an air conditioned room looking out.
I’ve been doing some #landscaping and I can finally say it’s to the point where I’m starting to be really happy with it. I wanted a cottage feel, while using native species of plants. Swipe to see the before pic.
I’m going to go through my storage boxes in search of some outdoor pillows. I have some in black and white but also a few in shades of blue. As much as I like the #neutralcolor palette, I am also a big fan of bright colors. Speaking of color, I took the first of these two pictures yesterday. The second pic I took today. I can’t believe the number of flowers that have opened up on this #Purslane plant since yesterday.
A small backyard oasis made with things I mostly had on hand. I didn’t really want a dining table in the backyard as our dining room faces out to the back porch, and the doors open wide enough to get an indoor/outdoor feel without having to drag all of my plates and utensils outside. I just wanted a couple of seats to be able to sit around the wee fire pit and watch my kiddo play on her swing set.
I’ve been trying to spend a lot of time in the #backyard, planting new plants in the garden and in whatever planters I can get my hands on. It’s been much needed for me as an #empath in such turbulent times in the world. I’ll be sharing more of some of the changes we’ve been making to our builder grade landscaping, in the next few days to come.
