ICYMI: The Sunday edition of this weekend’s @startribune (link in bio) featured @cartogramme co-founders @ashleahalpern and @thereluctanttraveler explaining their newest project @minnevangelist, an editorial site dedicated to all things Minnesota and the North. (That launch is the reason things have been so quiet around here!) We are ecstatic and grateful and beyond humbled that features writer Rachel Hutton took such a deep interest in our back story and told it so eloquently. And big shout-out to photographer @adlavinsky for not making us look like total dorks (even though we are). Minnevangelist is still very new and we have way more ground to cover— give us a follow to learn why Minnesota should be at the top of your travel wish list. And keep following Cartogramme to stay up-to-date on our latest travel and food stories for @afarmedia, @cntraveler, @travelandleisure, @foodandwine, @bonappetitmag, @airbnb, @hemispheresmag, @buzzfeed, @readoctober, @wired, and more.

Mountain vistas like this aren't the only reason to plan a road trip to Alaska this spring/summer. The state also has a sorely overlooked craft beer scene. Tap the link in our bio for @thereluctanttraveler's recent @readoctober story about essential drinking spots like @anchoragebrewing, @bleeding_heart_brewery, @devilsclubbeer, @alaskanbrewing, @turnagainbrewing, @49thstatebrewing, @Girdwood_brewing_co and @denalibrewing. 🍺

“The Grand Bazaar in Istanbul is one of the oldest and largest covered markets on earth. Twenty-two gates usher you into a labyrinth of 4,500 stores; you’ll definitely get lost, and that’s okay—it’s how you stumble upon happy mistakes like hammered-copper serving trays, hand-tooled leather bags, and glittering zultanite rings. If it’s a hand-knotted silk rug you’re after, venture out of the bazaar and over to @orienthandmade, a spectacular showroom run by a fifth-generation Anatolian family. Here, more than 14,000 carpets are spread across 27 rooms. Be prepared to invest, as this level of quality does not come cheap.” ~~~> For more from @ashleahalpern’s adventures in Turkey, check out her “Three Days in Istanbul” feature from @cntraveler (#linkinbio).

It’s never too early—or cold—for ice cream. Especially when it’s from the superbly named company Minnesota Nice Cream. We ordered this 🥓-on-a-stick number at an @mnicecream pop-up at @badweatherbrew earlier this year, but the brand has a new brick-and-mortar location in the Northeast. Cones get as wild as you are, topped with Fruity pebbles, rainbow donuts, gummies, sprinkles, Nerds, and, yes, edible glitter. That’s a thing now. 🧚♀️ Several vegan options, too! || #minnevangelist

Fun fact: Lake Superior contains 2,900 cubic miles of water. That’s enough H2O to cover all of North and South America to a depth of 12 inches! One pleasant way to plumb its vastness is on board the Hjørdis, a 50-foot traditionally-rigged steel schooner run by the @northhousefolkschool in Grand Marais, Minnesota. Two-hour sailings set out three times a day, weather permitting, and guests don’t have to do a thing when guys like Justice here do all the work. If you’re interested in learning how to sail, North House has classes on that as well—plus blacksmithing, yurt building, chukka boot making, and more. || #minnevangelist

The stunning atrium at the @clevelandmuseumofart was designed by @rva_ny. Unveiled four years ago, it now serves as the century-old institution's finest gathering spot. Yayoi Kusama’s mirrored orbs can be seen here in the foreground; her ‘Infinity Mirrors’ exhibition, along with the first-ever Cleveland Triennial for Contemporary Art (@fronttriennial), run through September 30. || #underratedamerica

It's hard to imagine a more fitting setting for @kimsimonsson's disturbing-kid sculptures than the century-old Turnblad mansion at Minneapolis' @amswedinstitute. The Finnish artist’s “Fantastical World’s” exhibition projects a near-future nightmare of orphaned children and melancholic “moss people,” with shades of everything from 'The Shining' to 'Donnie Darko'. Better swing by soon, though: Simonsson's phantasmagorical characters are headed back to his Fiskars studio after July 15. || #minnevangelist
