I got our little succulent garden planted (so that I can promptly kill them 😂😭), though I need to steal a cup of dirt from somewhere, haha! Who else is riding the succulent craze?
What's for breakfast this morning? What powerfood gets you through the work day? The kids have been loving yogurt + honey lately and I'm stuffing face with avocados and soft boiled eggs 🙌🍯🥑🥚
I was talking to Kelly yesterday about the direction of Copper Kettle Co, our brand's story and how I felt like we can no longer talk much on digital nomadism, as we're currently locked into a 12 month lease in Scottsdale, AZ. Kelly - the ever so insightful one - said that that didn't have to be the case. Which made me think: there's an 85% chance that we will move onto another city after this. Maybe Salt Lake, maybe Austin, maybe San Diego. And for some reason, we put these arbitrary restraints on ourselves: We're not real photographers until we have this special camera We're not real brand stylists until we book out 3 months in advance We're only real digital nomads when we live in a place for < 1.5 months at a time But aren't we still breaking the molds? Are people not seeking you out because you have a skill that's desirable enough for someone to PAY you for? Who sets these arbitrary certifications? Does someone go around saying, well Co gratulations, you've taken 100 photos, so you can officially call yourself a photographer! Here's a badge for your website that reads certified photographer! We do. We do it to ourselves and to others. I challenge you to think of something that you do that you find is normal or not-special about yourself or your business and to rephrase this specialty in your mind. What are you imposter syndroming all over? Wipe that ish off, look yourself in the mirror and don't let anyone else tell you who or what you are. We all start somewhere. We all grow into a better business owner, creative, mom, friend, laundry folder, etc daily. But just because you aren't there yet, doesn't mean you can't call yourself such yet, and doesn't mean you shouldn't be confident with how far you've come and how much you've learned and how much growth you have to gain. It's all valuable. You're an amazing ___________, and you're getting better at it every day. Don't let someone else define who you are or what you do.
Do you ever feel like you're too afraid to do something because it just won't be perfect? I've been putting off creating courses, but today, as I fly through some modules for our Creativepreneur Brand Course (all about brand strategy and design for your creative business), I'm finding that I'm REALLY loving putting it together! It's not perfect, but it's empowering to really push yourself out of your comfort zone and push ahead, which is something that I also loved hearing about at the #tuesdaystogether talk last night at @therisingtide 's Tuesdays Together Phoenix! Also! Tonight is the last night to get your ticket to The Imperfect Boss Summit! With the coupon code KYRSTEN, you'll get $5 off, which brings the grand total to $47! I get pretty vulnerable, talking about our life over the last couple years as well as how we found (and are working on finding) grace and abundance in our minimalist and frugalist lifestyle. I'd love for you to join me along with some other *incredible* ladies at The Imperfect Boss Summit! (head over to @theimperfectboss and click on their link in bio! Don't forget the coupon code!)
This quote from the #creativebrandsummit by @brandilynnaines sums up #theimperfectboss movement perfectly: You can't be everything to everybody. You can't do it all. Confession: I'm so all over the place right now that I hardly know what services we offer. Sometimes, we get such crazy shiny object syndrome that we can't focus on our core mission or what we love doing because we try to do it ALL. I'll raise my hand to that! We're all imperfect, and I challenge you to join the movement and put yourself out there this week! And while you're at it, make sure to join the Imperfect Boss Summit - it's $52, but I have a super special discount code for you so that you get $5 off (the code is my name! KYRSTEN). At the Imperfect Boss Summit, we're sharing our journey to minimalism, fighting severe postpartum depression and finding grace in chasing happiness ❤️ We're speaking alongside people like @nataliefranke @rosemarywatson @katschmoyer @shaycochrane and I can't be more thrilled to do so!! I hope everyone's having a lovely Tuesday - we're just finally getting settled into our new place and social media will be picking back up again soon!
Pancake morning is best morning 🙌 WE MADE IT TO SCOTTSDALE(!!!) and we're officially all moved in! I'll have to do a Day in the Life story soon because, you guys, this place is freaking amazing 😍😍 And on a work-related note, I'll be getting to my zillion emails today, so if you've been trying to get a hold of us, thank you for your patience while we moved and while I recovered from wisdom teeth surgery! 😬❤️
What season is your brand?? We are hands down Autumn and this photo by @twigyposts gives me ALL THE FEELS 😍😍😍🍁 If you aren't sure what season you are, you should TOTALLY look into @thebrand_stylist 's Colour Psychology course - she's incredible and she breakdown how your brand can make a huge impact with the RIGHT message right from the get go 🙌
Packing packing packing before our big move to Scottsdale, AZ on Monday! Luckily, we hardly have any belongings (and having gotten rid of so much stuff before we were on the road for 6 months gives me all the feels since ALL of our possessions right now are strictly Joy Sparking things 😍😍), so packing our whole life is pretty much only taking a handful of hours. This post is pretty pointless, but I thought I'd love to pop into your feed with a little thought of positivity: if you own things or are doing things that you don't love, I highly suggest getting rid of them. Life is too short to do and hold onto things that you don't love. And if you absolutely HAVE to do something (I believe there are very few things like this, however), then shift your mindset in a way that allows you to still see the joy in it. You don't *HAVE TO* fold clothes every weekend - you're partaking in the luxury of folding clothes that keep you and your family cozy and fashionable. Also, the fewer clothes you have, the fewer you have to fold 😉 I hang ours up 🙌
