I have never ending heart eyes for everything @penandpetals creates, and these arrangements Casey created last year are only the beginning. 😍😍😍 If you haven't checked out their site recently, you've got to see the brilliance that has come together in their rebrand as a floral and calligraphy studio. Go ahead and pour yourself another cup of coffee. You'll be scrolling through that beauty for dayyyyssss.
Hi loves! I'm so excited to share that my dear friend, Nicole, just launched @zeneventschicago this week!! When she asked me to photograph this styled shoot for the new site, it was an automatic yes! . Six years ago, I met this beautiful soul while shooting a wedding at St. Clement in Chicago. Nicole was the church coordinator for one of my biggest weddings at the time. I was still the new girl in town learning the vibe of the city, and she was the most wonderful and gracious church lady I had ever met. We reconnected in the weeks following, and I was thrilled to discover we lived in the same neighborhood and were both mildly obsessed with the same corner bar. We met up for a drink (or three), and I became fast friends with “Nikki Z. . Over the years, Nicole and I have had the opportunity to work together in various capacities, and it’s been so incredible watching her passions come to life. One of her goals was to become ordained by the time she was 40 so she could officiate weddings. Having been part of the event industry for 13 years, weddings have always had a special place in her heart. But it's the beauty of the ceremony - the vows, the blessings, the words of faith and love - that really makes her feel alive. I am so thrilled for her in this next stage of her career and calling. . The same qualities make her such a wonderful friend - her warmth, generosity, integrity, sensitivity, and unwavering convictions - are also what make her an amazing professional. She is just the kind of person you want with you to help create a meaningful and special wedding ceremony. . Please join me in congratulating Nicole on the launch of Zen Events!!! (And see some more gorgeous images from this shoot on her site - link in profile. Also, can we talk about how gorgeous Sydney and Areal are??? 😍 . It's Tuesday afternoon and the coffee is flowing as I power through some projects. But once again, I'm haunted by the two classic questions: Is it too late to drink coffee? ☕️ Is it too early to drink wine? 🥂🍷
I often wish there was a way to revisit life's most meaningful moments- to go back and savor the feelings of joy, anticipation, and beauty. To me, the closest thing is to be still and soak in specific moments as they happen so I can vividly remember the smells, touch, tastes and feelings as anchor points to return to in my mind whenever I want. Your wedding day goes by so quickly, and even though you've hired a photographer to capture those memories, tying those photos to your own emotions will make it even more powerful for you when you look back on those images. . That excited anticipation before you put on your dress or suit, the joy of seeing your partner for the first time that day, the feeling of that just married kiss, or the love and gratitude that fills your heart as you take a minute to step back and appreciate everyone who has come to celebrate you. . I encourage you to choose 3-4 moments throughout the day - even if it's only 30 seconds at a time - to really experience what's happening. Stop. And breathe. And savor.
Sometimes you need to commit to something that pushes your limits beyond what you thought was possible in order to experience a new level of growth. I was never very athletic growing up and always hated running in particular. While I've watched many friends in the last few years go from zero miles to running half-marathons, marathons, and even triathlons, I've felt a sense of inspiration but always told myself I could never do it. The hard work, the pain, the sweat, the time spent training, ALL THOSE MILES. But the belief in themselves that they could do something so far beyond anything they had tried before was something I craved. And desiring the payoff without the cost, I always told them, I *want* to want it, but I just don't. And I knew I had to really WANT it to push through the pain and commitment of training. In January, I joked that maybe this was my year to run a big race. And one day out in SF a few glasses of wine in (of course), my friend @mrsnice_0_o talked me into running the Chicago @runrocknroll half marathon with her. We signed up a few days later. And um, guys? *Gulp* Tomorrow is the day! . You know when you flash forward to a date in the future and imagine the person you will be then? It's easy to picture yourself as this completely different transformed person. July seemed so far away at the time, and I had no idea what to expect in the training. I kinda thought one day I'd just wake up and feel badass. But it's been a slightly different journey. There have been a lot of highs and lows, much learning and a few injuries, tons of doubt and faith. Some days I feel ready, and I feel the badassery slowly developing. And then some days I wonder what the heck I was thinking! You guys, I know it's not a full marathon, but running is HARD!! . I'm so incredibly grateful to have had @vhinojosaphoto running with me through all the growing pains. It's been challenging and beautiful, empowering and emotional. I feel strong, and I feel vulnerable. I am nervous, and I'm excited. And as I lay down my head before the big race, even though I don't feel *quite* as badass as I'd like, I do finally believe I have what it takes. 13.1, I'm coming for you!y
Even though rain and dark skies threatened Dorian and Lester's wedding day, nothing could dampen their spirits...or their sweet love. The skies cleared moments before their vows, and we were graced with beautiful light for the rest of the day! | 🌸: @penandpetals
It's all in the details. A family heirloom on your bouquet, your mother's veil, your father's pocket watch or cufflinks, rings that symbolize new traditions you'll create, table numbers that correspond with your favorite countries traveled or meaningful places in your city, a signature cocktail that is so you. There are so many fun ways to incorporate your shared values in your wedding celebration and to use them as touch points to remind you and your love what this day is all about.
When @cochicstyling introduced me to @kmwardell, a branding and marketing strategist, I knew I had found a kindred spirit. And in only a few short months, we have taken on some amazing projects together and become fast friends. Karianne's corporate experience sets her apart in expertise and hustle, but as a musician, she has the heart and passion of a creative. One of the most exciting collaborations has been watching her own brand, @getlofti, come alive. Lofti provides 1:1 business coaching, brand and marketing strategy, and creative workshops for small businesses. This week she'll be hosting her first two creative workshops in London with @blovedhive and @secondhome_io, and I cannot be more thrilled for her! (I may even have a little FOMO.) 😉I am so excited to partner with her on some upcoming Chicago events, so go leave her some loft at @getlofti, and stay tuned! 💕| Styled by @cochicstyling | Hair + Makeup by @joannabartistry | Video on site by @whitequillcreative
