SIX YEARS OF MARRIAGE! 🥰 Today, Hugh and I are celebrating our wedding anniversary. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Hugh and I started dating when I was fifteen years old. We met on the rowing team, fell in love on the Chesapeake Bay, and grew up together. He is my high school sweetheart and has been my biggest supporter in business + life. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Over the past six years, we’ve been on quite a wild ride. Here are a few of the highlights: — Buying our little townhouse & making it feel like home! — CoFounding the @risingtidesociety together with friends and joining forces with @honeybook! Turning an idea into reality! — Moving from the east coast to the west coast... and back! Annapolis to San Francisco was one of the best adventures in our marriage. — My brain surgery to remove a benign tumor and the recovery that followed; this man carried me through it all! It was terrifying, but we made it through, together. — Fertility treatment after years of waiting for a baby... and success! 😭🙌🏼 — The birth of our son, Huey! A moment that was long awaited and prayed for... a moment that we will never forget. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ After 13 years together and 6 years of marriage—we are still learning more about one another, still falling deeper in love every single day. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Watching my husband become a father this spring has been my favorite part of our entire relationship. When I see him with baby Huey, I fall even more in love with him. He is truly the best Dad. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Happy Anniversary to my amazing husband, Hugh! SIX YEARS, BABE! I love you so much. ♥️ #thehayesadventures #risingtidesociety #communityovercompetition ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Photos by my sweet friends: @reneehphoto + @katelynjames + @laurenrswann + @lbishopphotography + @nikkisanterre
It's ya boy... Huey! I had so much fun taking over 2 weeks ago that I'm doing it again. Ready for some #FridayIntroductions? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Here are some fun facts about me: 1) I'm a bit of a milkaholic. Now, before you worry about all the bottles I'm poppin... you should know that I'm gaining weight like a champ and proud of it. Mom says that my thighs are 'roll goals' or whatever... I just wish she would stop pinching my cheeks. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2) I started smiling this month and it makes the rents go wild. When they catch me grinning, they talk in high-pitched voices and dance around the room. They try so hard to get me to do it again... Y'all, it's ridiculous. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The truth is that I can smile whenever I want too, but it's more fun to make them work for it. Hah! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 3) I don't mean to brag, but I'm learning all sorts of new skills. I figured out how to roll from my belly to my back so that I can escape the torturous workout my parents call tummy-time. I also figured out that if I scream long enough while Dad is holding me, I'll eventually get to snuggle with mom. Works like a charm every time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 4) I'm starting to develop my own sense of style. Although Mom keeps dressing me in preppy outfits with anchors and bow ties (yuck)—I'm getting really into graphic onesies. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Oh, and I believe that pants are optional. It’s my personal fashion statement. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 5) I discovered the most incredible place this week... TARGET! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I'm not sure if you've heard of Target but it's rad! I can't figure out why Dad got upset when Mom and I hit the aisles for a little shopping spree. I understand that we came back with fifty things we didn't need... but it's all about the experience. We're bonding while shopping, okay? I'd say that's priceless. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Plus, now that I'm outgrowing my 3 month clothes... it's time to refresh the wardrobe with some fresh new looks. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Okay, that's all I got for you this week. Thanks for tuning into my takeover of Mom's Instagram... until next time... I'm #hueyhayes — baby, out!
Oh hey! It's me, Nat. Just popping into your feed to remind you of three very important things: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1) Your best is enough. Period. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2) Your definition of success does not need to be the same as hers; you are unique and so is your journey. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 3) Life is not a race. It may feel like you're falling behind, but that's a lie. It's not the truth. You're exactly where you're meant to be. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Truthfully, I wrote these affirmations for myself... Since Huey was born a month early (then immediately taken to the NICU, bottle fed to raise his low glucose levels, and didn't regain his birth weight by 2 weeks) we had to adapt. As many of you know, I've been exclusively pumping every 2-3 hours around the clock since Huey was born. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Even though my baby is finally sleeping through the night... I'm not. Eleven weeks of pumping, washing bottles, building a freezer stash, and navigating an entirely new world. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It is simultaneously exhausting and a huge blessing. Using a bottle means we can measure how much baby Huey is eating to ensure he's gaining weight and it lets my husband bond with the baby too. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Feeding my baby looks different than how I envisioned it would and that's okay. I have friends who are exclusively breast feeding, exclusively pumping (like me!), supplementing, and formula feeding too–and guess what, we are all great mothers. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Whether we're talking about entrepreneurship or our personal lives... the affirmations above apply. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When I wrote them this morning in my journal, I was thinking about my breastfeeding journey. When you read them, you might have been thinking about your business or your family or that situation you've been facing this week. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ No matter what came to mind when you read them—I have faith that they were meant for you. We may be going through different journeys at this moment, but we are all in this together. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Photo by: @cheersbabephoto #communityovercompetition #exclusivelypumping
Note to self: Don’t give up. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ To all of the doers and dreamers who are facing down their fears with grit this week—I see you. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Remember that baby steps still move us forward and imperfect progress is still progress worth making. Celebrate how far you’ve come and the wins this week that are getting you closer to where you want to be. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #nataliefrankedoodles #communityovercompetition
On a pinchable scale of 1 to 10, those cheeks are an eleven. 👌🏻 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Oh Huey, the past 10 weeks of being your mama has transformed my heart in a BIG way. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ These days you’re cooing up a storm, rolling your way out of tummy time (because rolling is much more fun than a neck workout—we understand), and you’re smiling at us every chance you get. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In just a few short weeks, I’ll be back at work and although a part of me is sad for maternity leave to end... an even bigger part of me can’t wait to get back to cultivating the community that I love. I can’t wait for you, little one, to watch your mama conquer her dreams and build a legacy one day at a time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It isn’t going to be easy... no part of this journey has been... but it’s going to be worth it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I hope the work I do everyday leaves this world a little better and paves the way for you to build a life on passion and purpose. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Photo by: @nikkisantere #hueyhayes #risingtidesociety #communityovercompetition
How do YOU prioritize your mental health? 🥰 Let me know in the comments below. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As an introvert, I take care of my mind by setting aside time to doodle, pray, and journal regularly. I check in with my doctors when I need to and I am honest with loved ones when I’m struggling. I prioritize getting outside as often as I can and soak up the sunshine. This doodle captures some of the ways that I personally prioritize my mental health! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ There is no perfect formula for mental wellness. It’s an ever-evolving journey that each of us must explore and often it can be challenging. However, through the hills and valleys you are never alone. Asking for help isn’t failure and leaning on others isn’t weakness. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Mental Wellness looks different for each of us. ♥️ Thank you to everyone who took part in our #MyMentalWellnessMatters challenge this week. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #nataliefrankedoodles
