Two days of accounting rewarded by the sunniest DC night 🇺🇸. Work hard, play hard, and back to my babies tomorrow ✈️.
Sad to be leaving these two for a work trip ✈️ , but also kind of happy because Oskar learned how to whistle and it hasn’t stopped since. He woke up at 5:30am to start “practicing” again...you enjoy that while I’m gone, dada 🌞😗✌🏻
This little Pre-K graduate. I simply cannot ✋. He’s been practicing the most emotional songs (SIGN LANGUAGE INCLUDED) for his ceremony, on a mission to make us cry through the whole thing, I swear it 😭. I’m finally sharing what we’ve decided to do for next year— kindergarten or hold back—all detailed out on the blog as cohesively as I could manage! Hope this gives anybody in the same boat some additional perspective or food for thought, because the decision is a tough one!
August: “I picked this shirt mama so my teachers know I wub yew.” Me: 😭🥰😭🥰 August: “Mama? Can I have chocolate for my breakfast now?”
All day we tried to take a curated, pretty picture, but nothing turned out quite like I had hoped. Imperfect picture, imperfect motherhood. It’s messy, chaotic, and hard, and takes every last bit of my patience, energy, and sanity, but my goodness, is it more than I could have ever imagined. We got into pajamas and snuggled up before bed here, running on no naps and way too much sugar. Matt happened to snap one last candid picture—this one—and I look so happy, so loved. Happy Mother’s Day to all of you amazing mamas. I hope you go to bed feeling like the most beautiful human being, because you sure are to those babies who love you best.
We started dating at 19 and 20 years old, and sometimes I marvel at how much our lives have changed since then. Add in a life in medicine, which demanded every ounce of him through medical school and residency, and still in so many ways now, I’m proud we’ve never strayed the course. He’s convinced we would have met no matter what—that our lives were meant to be woven together. I know it’s Mothers Day weekend at all, but he makes this life so fun. When you love what you have, you have everything you need.
Today was full of back to back work calls, but I snuck in some spring cleaning every chance I could 🧹🧻 🧽 🧼. There’s nothing better than having an organized house heading into the weekend, which almost NEVER happens around here! Cheers to Friday! Hope you have a great one, frieeeends!
Outside til bedtime with porch beers in hand. Alright, Wednesday. I’m kinda digging you 😎.
This kid saw somebody throw a cigarette butt on the ground and yelled, “WE ONLY HAVE ONE PLANET 😡😡😡” Sounds like that Earth Day school curriculum paid off 🌍 #burn
