I can't tell you how thankful I am for what I've been blessed with. Through the good, the bad, & the ugly, I wouldn't be where I am now without the Lord, my family, and friends. And that's a fact. ••• Last week I went to San Diego to second shoot with an amazingly talented photographer who just so happens to be one of my best friends! It was her first official wedding there and I'm so proud and stoked for her in how far she's come in such a short time. ••• After hanging out in San Diego for a few days, we headed toward Sequoia, then to Kings Canyon, Yosemite, and then down the Pacific coast highway through Bir Sur & everything was so surreal. Every day was different and actually much different than we expected. Surprisingly, our attire that was supposed to be for the mountains wound up being used on the cool coast. Haha! ••• Thank you to my husband who lets me experience my dreams & see the world and to Allison for having me by your side for your very first SD wedding & literally for the whole week traveling around the state! :) ••• I'm planning to write a few blogs on the trip & itinerary like I normally do, but would anyone care to see a blog post on restaurants or best coffee spots we hit up? Just curious if anyone would be interested. Let me know below!

Happy 4th! …A day late. 😜 What did you do to celebrate? We chilled, made BBQ & homemade ice cream + dessert and watched fireworks from our street.
Ok, so over the last month, I took a break from posting in my feed. But in that time, I took a road trip from Colorado up to Badlands National Park (pictured), Mount Rushmore, Devil's Tower, Carhenge in Nebraska, ND & MT. I've been working on & in the business a bit as well - we're finishing up this season of weddings tomorrow after 13 weddings in just the last 4 months! I've been coming up with and working on projects that I'll be pushing out over the next two months of our slower season over here. Thank goodness there's not a ton outside over the heat of the summer. ⠀ ☀️ That said, I've also been planning some time off and time away - Fredericksburg with some friends for a birthday party, going to visit my friend in San Diego, possibly seeing my grandma again in CO, and Daniel and I are finally planning a trip together! We haven't finalized where, but we have 9 total days to work with - do y'all have any recommendations? I don't want too hot and Daniel doesn't want too expensive and not a beach or long flight. He suggested a cruise, and my list is quite long, but I've narrowed down to these with a cruise as an option too: ⠀ Niagara Falls ⠀ Asheville, NC ⠀ Napa Valley ⠀ Key West ⠀ Hot Springs ⠀ Boston ⠀ Philadelphia ⠀ Banff⠀ Cuba⠀ Have you been to any of these and loved them?! Lemme know!⠀
🎉 Today is my Birthday AND it's the weekend, so I thought I'd share a little bit about me for #fridayintroductions, even though it's Saturday! ;) 🎉⠀ 1. I love what I do and I’m so very thankful & honored to capture people in their most happiest times of life. I genuinely love seeing people smile and happy. 🎉⠀ 2. I'm about to check a few more states off the travel list, can you guess which states? Watch stories for insight. ;) 🎉⠀ 3. I’ve grown to love getting out of the house and giving myself a break, daily. Even on the 12-14 hour days, it's hard to step away from the computer, but I've found that getting out and coming back to work with a refreshed and open mind give me the ability to stay focused longer and spark new & better ideas. What do you do to stay productive?⠀
ALL 4 weddings and now 9 sessions edited and SENT off to all my amazing clients!! The last 2 weeks have been absolutely crazy as I prepare to leave for a trip up to Colorado to see some family and have a little trip within a trip up to Mount Rushmore, Badlands National Park, and probably another small trek up to North Dakota to check the state off the list too and see some national grasslands! Any recommendations on what to do in between SD & ND?⠀⠀ •••⠀⠀ Some have asked how I've been able to keep up and still deliver weddings within in two weeks of the big day (which is one huge thing that sets me apart from others) and portrait sessions within just a few days and still have excellent quality & eye to detail. Most of it comes from a process that I've created to help me maintain a list of things to do post shoot/wedding and having a deadline for myself & my team. ⠀⠀ •••⠀⠀ However, I couldn't do #allthethings without my amazing team: Rachel (@pearsonmoments) has now been with me for 4 months and she's been such a life saver! I've given her so much to do and learn in the midst of busy season and she's caught on so quickly and is so on top of things! She's even at the point of reading my mind before I do. Hah! I'd say it's a necessary skill. ;) Also, @Laurenripple, my amazing editor has helped me turn weddings around ridiculously fast & my clients LOVE it!!! I also love that she's been my time saver - she's literally saved me from days of work after each wedding. Now I can focus more on giving my clients the best experience & working on the business vs. in the business (aka constantly editing during busy seasons). ⠀⠀
Hey y'all! It's me, the girl behind the camera, doing what I love. On wedding days, since cutting my hair it's usually down & curly, but last weekend, we had a power outage that killed all the plugs in our bathrooms! So I wasn't expecting that & just went with my hair a but more messy than normal...thankfully I don’t think anyone noticed. 🤪 This week I just started to be able to have a bun again, which I've missed (because it's so much less work). Haha!⠀⠀ •••⠀⠀ A few more things about me (other than knowing I don’t like to spend much time on fixing my hair):⠀⠀ 1. I’m so very thankful & honored to capture people in their most happiest times of life. I genuinely love seeing people smile and making them happy to see their pictures on the back of my camera!⠀⠀ 2. I love to try new food and new restaurants, no matter where I am. I even created a list of unique foods I had to try when I was in Japan so I could try #allthethings Japanese. What are your favorite restaurants in DFW? Or around the world? Maybe I'll plan my next trip around food. 🤔😋 3. When I'm working in town, I sometimes get caught up in getting house work done at home and can't stay focused or get tired of looking my computer screen in my office. So, to fuel my urge for work and getting things done on time, I've become a well-known regular at the local coffee shops in town & consider it cheap rent. 😉 Where do you find you get the most entrepreneur work done? Thanks to @pearsonmoments for this shot of me in my element! ♥️
The last 12 days have been absolutely crazy!! I've had 4 weddings & 7 sessions all from headshots to family & kids to bridal portraits. But I'm so thankful for all of my amazing clients for their continued encouragement and friendship through the years! Y'all are AMAZING!!⠀⠀ •••⠀⠀ Some have asked how I've been able to keep up and still deliver weddings within in two weeks of the big day (which is one huge thing that sets me apart from others) and portrait sessions within just a few days and still have excellent quality & eye to detail. Today marks TEN years with this guy. What?!⠀ 🎉 Wanna know how Daniel asked me to be his girlfriend? After being friends for several years leading up to having feelings for each other, I invited Daniel to my orchestra banquet at my high school (fun fact: I used to play violin for 10 years). After the banquet, Daniel asked my mom if he could date me. 5 years after that, he asked my mom if he could marry me. 💍 It's crazy how time flies, but it's sure been a fun ride - we've been through so much, but I wouldn't change that for the world. Love you, @bigdanno24! 📷 | @melissaclairephoto
Let's talk about perspective...⠀⠀ ⏳ What is your perspective on yourself? ⠀⠀ Do you perceive others as good people or find imperfections in others?⠀⠀ 🥇 Let's look at the world and the people in it as best as we can. Seeing beauty for what it's worth and seeing people as good. The world would probably change for the better if we all perceived everything in a positive way. But I also know that I’m imperfect & sometimes judge what’s happening without knowing all the facts. I’m human too. 🤷🏼♀️ Let's collectively make a difference in other's lives and call out the good in them, encourage them if their day isn't going well, and make a positive impact. ⠀⠀ 👏🏻 Let's not compare ourselves to others or other's instagram stories. Because let's be real, instagram if showing you the good, not the bad or ugly. At least, 99% of the time, you're seeing the best. And just know, that everyone's life isn't perfectly curated to their insta-feed. ⠀⠀ 🔥 Let's jump outside our comfort zone and show some of the real life moments and let others know we've all got messy lives. ⠀
