Enjoying the warmer winds while trying to get our propagation greenhouse up before winter comes again. It's always a bit of a time crunch when you're a weekend farmer, there's decreasing daylight hours and you like to sleep in and drink casual cups of coffee.
Farming can be joyful, fun, exhausting, and frustrating, and it can also make you feel like an idiot. Which is how I felt yesterday sweeping snow off our beds so that we could finish our garlic plant. At least they were tarped!
Can I get just one more month of Fall please? Six cm and counting. #notablackandwhitephoto
Admiring the cloves on our Rose de Lautrec. We've been cracking garlic the past few evenings and are realizing that we have a tad more garlic than we initially projected. #gottaprepmorebeds
Beautiful afternoon autumn light to get some bed prep done. While I taught grade 6 today, Scott took the day off work to get some prep done for our garlic beds. #farmthekootenays #smallfarm
Two inches of rain makes for a gorgeous reflection pond on our newly poured cement pad, future home of our farm operations.
It's a chilly, blustery evening cooking outside on propane because the power is out. Reminiscing about the last two seasons farming in Ontario without electricity and cooking like this every night...though my right burner has obviously gone a bit wobbly since then;)
On the left, a pile of freshly delivered soil, on the right a pile of greenhouse pieces waiting to be assembled, and in the middle, a pup who thinks very highly of himself.
Thankful for the autumn sunshine.
I'm lucky to have a partner who will wake me up int the middle of the night to go look at the sky. #kootenaysky #northernlights
When you buy a used greenhouse it's super helpful to have a dad with a flatbed tow truck, especially when you have to go back for the stove. Thanks Dad!
Jasper diligently guards the construction site.
September is my favourite month at the farmers' market.
Scott's ready to start pounding some posts in a serious way. Three acres of deer fence are no match for this man and his hand held 4-stroke vibrating honda motor.
Scott getting to work on the future home of our all-in-one farm hub. #farmthekootenays
Smoky beach evenings in the kootenays.
This hot, hazy day calls for a special happy hour treat. Thanks for the shishito peppers @stone_meadow_flowers !
