This little guy's family contacted me when he was already 2 weeks old. Unfortunately they'd had a less than ideal experience with someone else, so they had to search out someone new late in the game (for those of you that don't know, typically it's best to have a newborn session done during the first 14 days, as babies tend to become much more alert and sometimes less flexible for those curly newborn poses that so many parents want). Anyway, by the time we could get him in he was approximately 3 weeks old. He was definitely alert, but before too long he got into a nice deep sleep and had a great session! We loved working with them and are so glad they love everything! Bring me those older babies... I'm not scared! 😜😉😂
I love the strength this momma showed throughout her labor. We first met at Latch On SA when I did a breastfeeding session with her and her son. I later did his cake smash session and we have become friends over time. We even had the chance to work a birth together earlier this year (she is a doula)! I was beyond honored and excited when she asked me to capture her second baby's birth. She summed up her birth so beautifully. Sage’s birth story can only be described as dichotomous. It was all of the things. As long as it was fast. As natural as it was medically managed. As according to plan as it was unpredictable. And for me, as beautiful as it was difficult. ~ @kaylagramos @birthbecomesher
Rebozos are great tools during labor. They are useful for doulas or midwives to sift a laboring woman's hips to help baby re-position and move down. Shown here during pushing, it's also great for mom to pull on to help focus her energy. This momma fought hard for her birth center birth, but sometimes things don't go as planned. I love the look on her midwife's face here. Nearing the end of a ** four day ** labor, we were all so excited that these amazing parents were finally almost to the finish line and about to meet her little man!
I meant to share this little sweetie yesterday! She was just too cute.
I've had quite a few NICU sweeties this year. This gorgeous little man has a big name to live up to. He's doing pretty well so far with it. LOL Legend is a fighter, and it was an honor to document him during his first days earthside.
Quick peek at this amazing birth. Did your birth go as planned? Sometimes births don't quite fall in line with birth plans, and that's ok! This momma had planned to deliver at a birth center, but because she wasn't yet 37 weeks when labor started, she was told she needed to make it to midnight. Well baby wasn't waiting for midnight and when that became clear they ended up making the call to go to the hospital. Baby girl made her appearance just 4 minutes before midnight! Birth is so unpredictable! @birthunited @birthboundphotographer @birthbecomesher
