Not only are these students gathering to learn and share, they are also preparing 10,000 shelf-stable meals to donate to local groups. Amazing day at Henrietta Lacks Health and Bioscience High School, as United States Senator Patty Murray came for a visit. The students lead the Senator on a tour of the Nursing suite, Pharmacy and Biotechnology room. Senator Murray voiced how impressed she was with the students and the programs at HeLa high school. Senator Murray also took the time to answer the students questions about her career path and role as a Senator. #EPSInspires

K-9 officers, police cars, and...books? Yes, that's right, the @vancouverpolice_ SA visited Hearthwood Elementary School during a Police Activities League of SW Washington literacy event. Students had a blast learning from law enforcement professionals about their actual duties (the kids had some creative ideas) and exploring the police vehicles. Of course, the Hearthwood Hawks favorite part was reading! Ok, ok, it was actually the K-9s! #EPSInspires
The former Vancouver Police Department School Resource Officer (SRO) for Evergreen High School, Nick Landas, was voted SRO of the year for the State of Washington by the Washington School Safety Organization. Officer Landas served as Evergreen's SRO for more than five years from 2014 until July of this year. Landas was recognized in a ceremony by Superintendent Mike Merlino and Safety & Security Director Shane Gardner. Officer Landas handed off the Evergreen Power Ring to current SRO Tyler Knotts, which turned out to be a donut! Landas is currently assigned to the Vancouver Police Department East Precinct Patrol.
@werunion Union High School has won the Bronze National Healthy Schools Award from The Alliance for a Healthier Generation for being one of America’s Healthiest Schools. This is the second award for Union, which reflects a continued commitment toward promoting student and staff health and well-being. Physical Education teacher Leslie Robb applied for the award to allow students and parents of the district to see that Union provides healthy options for students—physically, academically, and nutritionally. As Robb says, Union High School is always about improving and making life better for students and staff. #EPSInspires
