Last night, I spent a little while writing to a friend on the other side of the world and I wondered how many other people still do this? Everything has gone digital now and most people keep in touch via social media or whatsapp. As I mentioned in my @justacard interview, I have a whole stash of cards for occasions like writing to friends (they're trying to hit 10k followers and run a great campaign so feel free to check them out). There is nothing better than receiving a hand written letter in the post because you know time and effort has gone into writing it just for you. Anyone can knock out a text message in a matter of seconds but there's something special about anything hand written. I can't wait to get this one on it's way later today 💛 Do you still use the good old fashioned snail mail 🐌 or have you gone over entirely to messaging? 📱
I just LOVE finding stuff that I've forgotten about. When I was at college I had to buy a MASSIVE list of art materials 🖌 and they were all kept in a giant, pink, tool box and it was soooo heavy to carry to and from college. As with any school kit list, I barely used any of those materials. When I left, all the materials I wanted to keep were boxed up and the rest were given away. Recently I found that box. And this is going to sound daft but this berol felt pen is my favourite thing from that box! It reminds me of primary school because we had drawers and drawers of them in the classroom and they were available in a rainbow of colours 🌈. It's funny that out of all my fancy pens on my desk this on is my favourite. 🖍I've been trying to track down a place in town that sells them as singles (my pen is dying 😭) but I haven't managed it yet. Do shops still do that or am I showing my age? This pen also got me thinking, what's your favourite tool, pen, material etc?
On Friday, I was lucky enough to pop over to @molliemakes HQ in Bristol and chat with the super lovely Cath and Yvette, and have lunch in the most instagramable cafe ever. Seriously, it was beautiful! I now want to hang pot plants from my ceiling, but I don't think I'll be allowed some how. I left the office feeling so inspired and full of ideas for plans for the future. I also know I have to get back to my roots and actually start making crafts and drawing properly again. Seeing all the adorable cover products in real life made me realise it's something I miss doing. It was all I ever did as a kid. Whilst I can't tell you my plans for the future yet, I can tell you my plans for this week. And if I tell you that means I'm accountable and have to finish it right? So, this week, I am going to finish something new that involves plants. There I said it! Now I have to do it. What are your plans or goals for this week?
This has most definitely been a good weekend. Just look at that reflection! I spent an afternoon floating around on paddle boards on Wimbleball Lake with a group of friends. We messed about, fought the wind, did bad yoga on water and fell in a lot! At one point I was laughing so hard in the water that I just had to lie back in my life jacket and laugh it out. Once we got kicked out of the water, we some how ended up in a private boat club and got made cups of tea! We then made our way over to Watchet for some chips by the harbour. Now I'm all ready and refreshed for the week ahead! What have you been up to this weekend?
Today I am standing on a train to Bristol and it doesn't smell particularly nice but I'm not going to complain because it's #mythankfulfriday. I actually don't mind standing because I sit on my bum all day anyway, so half an hour isn't going to hurt. Anyway, today I'm thankful for being able to make this journey without having to ask anyone's permission. I now I make my own schedule and decide on my working days. I'm thankful for being self employed, for being my own boss and being able to make my own decisions. It's a really nice freedom to have and it's often taken for granted 💛 what are you thankful for this week?
I promise I'm not going to turn into one of those people who show you every single meal they eat on Instagram. But I've got a new obsession... making breakfasts and smoothies that I see on Pinterest. Up until recently I didn't enjoy breakfast at all. I would roll out of bed at the last minute, stuff my face with cereal and then think about working. But I've found that getting up that bit earlier and not having to rush and enjoy something healthy for breakfast actually makes a difference to my day. I feel less stressed to begin with and I find I'm more productive with my mornings. These smoothie bowls are also the only way you're going to get to eat banana! I've got banana, raspberry, strawberry, blueberry and a tiny bit of spinach in this one. And then topped with fresh raspberries, goji berries, almonds, flaxseed and chia. If you've got great ideas for breakfast I'd love to hear them!
