#Repost @surfrider ・・・ Our hearts go out to everyone impacted by the recent California wildfires across the state. Back in 1984, the Surfrider Foundation was founded in the coastal town of Malibu, California. In recent weeks, the city, surrounding communities, and wildlife have been absolutely devastated by the #WoolseyFire. This small and tight-knit community is now recovering and our Los Angeles Chapter (@surfriderLA) is working to support and provide assistance as best they can. 〰️〰️〰️ There are many worthy national response organizations to give your time and money to, but in an effort to emphasize local on the ground support, @surfriderLA is teaming up with the Boys & Girls Club of Malibu (@bgcmalibu90265) to provide families / individuals with emergency relief, including interim housing, food, water, clothing, transportation, medical supplies and school materials. So proud of our Hold On To Your Butt's Campaign Coordinator @norms86 on her Activist Spotlight feature! 👏👏👏 Norma has been a rockstar over the years by helping to sort plastics at cleanups, gathering cigarette butts for recycling, testifying at City Council for ordinances and highlighting plastic pollution through the chapter's social channels. She is showing that when locals stand up for their beach, the community takes notice and this momentum can lead to the grassroots campaigns and programs that make @surfrider plastic pollution initiative a force to be reckoned with. > Read more at the LINK IN BIO
