Happy International Surfing Day! 🌊 Just a friendly reminder to get out there for a solo surf session or do a solo beach cleanup if you can. If you can't get to the beach, show us how you are celebrating at home using the hashtag #InternationalSurfingDay and tagging @hsbsurfrider We hope you protect and enjoy the beach today, whether that be on the sand, in the sandbox or in your home. Every day, the Surfrider Foundation and our network of volunteer activists work to protect our coasts. This International Surfing Day, as we pause to celebrate the waves and beaches that we all love, we must also acknowledge that just as our beaches face a number of challenges, so does our society. As surfers and beachgoers alike, it is our responsibility to foster a vibrant and inclusive community that comes together to protect and enjoy this extraordinary resource. This International Surfing Day, go for a solo surf session or do a solo beach cleanup. If you can’t get to the beach, show us how you are celebrating at home using the hashtag #InternationalSurfingDay and tagging @hsbsurfrider
Great to see everyone at our EC Meeting this week! We had some important discussions on the future of beach cleanups for the Chapter, how we're adapting to the changes in our community, and how to proceed using proper safety measures and distancing 👌
#Repost @surfrider ・・・ Today is #WorldOceansDay — a day where we reflect and appreciate the place that brings us so much joy and rejuvenation. 🌊 The ocean is a special place that should be healthy, safe and accessible to all people. However, just as our ocean faces a number of challenges, so does our community. And our ocean will thrive only if we ALL foster a vibrant, inclusive community that comes together to protect it. #UNWorldOceansDay @UNWorldOceansDay 📸: @morganmaassen

As stay-home orders continue, it’s not surprising that the trash has built up, especially along these waterways that empty into the ocean, so we encourage you to keep an eye out for ways that you can contribute to keeping our community clean. Times are changing, but our goals remain the same, to focus energy on behaviors that are beneficial and proactive in protecting the environment and our community. It’s important we continue to work together in a safe, social-distanced manner, connected in our efforts. Please share with us how you’re contributing by tagging @hsbsurfrider / #hsbsurfrider in your social photos!
Since our scheduled Beach Cleanups have been cancelled until further notice due to COVID-19 prevention, we want to encourage everyone to pickup up a few items of trash if possible while visiting our beaches. There is plenty of trash out there that needs to be picked up and unfortunately groups of people are using these public areas to party and they leave large amounts of trash behind. Please always stay safe while visiting public areas and follow social distancing guidelines. Every little bit counts -- Mother Earth will thank you for it!
