For this week’s Trustee Thursday we have Jay Thompson! Jay Thompson is from Windermere, FL and majors in accounting. Jay chose Florida State not long after his campus tour during his Senior year of High School. He was looking for academics and tradition in a University and found the perfect blend that weekend. “As a first generation Seminole in a family full of Gators, I take great pride in my college and never miss an opportunity to wear garnet and gold. Whether through personal growth, friendships, or academics FSU has given me more than enough tools to succeed in life.” To Jay, the Student Foundation means attempting to give back to a university that has given so much to him. “Giving back now so that future generations of Seminoles can have an experience equal to, or better than mine, is everything. Community is a word stressed at Florida State from your first day at the University. Being able to positively make an impact on a community larger than I can even imagine is the answer to my ‘Why’ “. Jay thank you for all of your contributions to our campus community!
Today is a great day to say THANKS to FSU donors! Don’t miss #thankaNOLEday on Landis Green from 11 to 2 today!

For this week’s Trustee Thursdays we have Jalaycia Lewis! Jalaycia is from Lakeland, Florida and majors in Social Work. Jalaycia chose Florida State University because of the exhilarating atmosphere and comfort she felt every time she visited FSU. “Garnet & Gold is all I know ❤️💛” To Jalaycia the Student Foundation is more than a group of students that get together to raise money for FSU. “We are a family, We are a branch of commitment, and We are Seminoles. I am thankful for all the opportunities the Student Foundation has provided me and my fellow peers.” Jalaycia, thank you for supporting FSU’s campus community!
For our first trustee of fall 2018 we have Thomas Brooks! Thomas is from Tallahassee, FL and majors in entrepreneurship. Thomas chose Florida State because both of his parents were seminole graduates and it was a campus where he felt he could be more than he’d ever imagined. He felt Florida State was the perfect stepping stone to get him ready for the rest of his life. To Thomas, the Student Foundation is a group of students who more than anything, want the best for their fellow Seminoles. “We don’t need the credit, we don’t need the glory. All that matters to us is seeing more students smiling as they walk across the stage proud that they graduated from a top university ready to conquer the world that awaits” Thank you for your service Thomas!
Florida State University has jumped to No. 26 among national public universities in the U.S. News & World Report rankings after moving up five places for the second consecutive year. It’s no surprise that people are starting to recognize the talent that is produced within the Florida State community. This ranking is a reflection of the prominence of Florida State's academics and school pride that Seminoles experience every day.
