PILATES has been said to be very “linear” and in many aspects it is. I make sure to incorporate non-linear movements like arm circles, leg circles, rotation of the spine, in all my classes. I do this with private clients as well depending on the clients body. Sometimes spinal injuries don’t do well with a lot of rotation. It depends on the issue. I have a curve in my spine-scoliosis-so linear movements such as above are good for me. No one is symmetrical so it’s important to work on our asymmetry. We all have a smarter side that we use most of the time. We can’t be aware of every move we make or we’d be exhausted. Pilates is about being aware of your imbalances so you can work on them and therefore, move better, feel better and look better! 🙌🏽 ・・・ #fitip #repost @jennifermartinusc

TEASER VARIATIONS w/ the PUSH THROUGH BAR on the CADILLAC. * This is a great way to work on spinal articulation and control. * Be sure to not let the rib cage flare open! Slide your shoulder blades down your back on the way up AND down. Peel each vertebra off the mat on the way up and melt each one down as you lower. As the legs are reaching long, squeeze the heels together and feel the ‘zip up’ all the way up through the inner thighs. The inner thighs are a part of your powerhouse strength...Be sure to use them. 😉 Move slowly with control, not momentum.. * I am using a blue spring which is relatively light. Having a spring top loaded, assists the client with the movement pattern. You can also make the exercise more challenging by bottom loading a spring to add resistance to the exercise. It just depends on what your needs or your clients needs are for the series. #repost @kmjred #teasertuesday
