  • I know there are solid conditioner bars out there but I prefer to have normal conditioner for my hair. Thankfully my favorite local health food store @commongroundbloomington carries a few bulk shower products including shampoo and conditioner. I got about 14oz for $7.18 which may seem like a lot but the same brand packaged would cost me 2.5 times more per oz. I’m the main conditioner user in my house and I only wash/condition my hair once a month if not less so this will last us a loooong time. Just one way we reduce waste while remaining “normal” (whatever that is right). #conventionalhippie #notazerowaster #curlyhaircare #bulkshopping

  • I hit the jackpot today! I hardly ever go to Walmart but we had to buy our very picky daughter more socks and they only carry them at Walmart, or they used to. Unfortunately they didn’t have her socks but in the baby clearance they had tons of specialized (by that I mean expensive) formula on sale for $5. I love the grassfed formula but with feeding twins, it’s not something I can afford so I was ecstatic to see this formula on sale. I got 7 containers for less than what one container normally cost and this should last us right up until their first birthday which is when we’ll switch them to cows milk. Breastfeeding is obviously beat not only for baby and mom but also for your wallet but I gave up after 8 months of struggling with the twins and man I was shocked by the cost of formula and my kids don’t even use the specialized formula anymore. This was a nice little blessing for us today, how lucky we are!

  • Let’s Talk hair, curly hair specifically. I’ve been meaning to find a way to reduce my waste when it comes to hair products for some time now. I only use one product so It’s not like I was creating bottles upon bottles of waste just to style my hair but still the two bottles a year will add up over time and still be here long after I’m gone so after I ran out of my hair cream 😫 I just went for it and decide to try making my own hair product and.... it’s awesome!! I’m so happy I gave it a shot deposit my skepticism and even happier how easy my zero waste hair Gel was to make. What makes me happiest of of all is that IT ACTUALLY WORKS!!!   • My first time in 3 years buying paper towels. The dog puked and the 3 year old got made a 💩 mess in the bathroom. I have a MAJOR ick factor when it comes to cleaning poop or bathrooms so I mostly use disinfectant wipes when cleaning the bathroom but the extra mess warranted a little extra help. We’ll have the dog for a least the rest of the week so I’ll be interested to see how long these paper towels last. #prettyconvenient #whatwedoforfamily #conventionalhippie
