It’s paper day for @ugaredandblack! Here are all my photos that made the paper this week.
Second time covering @georgiafootball for @ugaredandblack.
August | Muscle memory A few unseen photos from my hard drive from last month. Usually I post this to my other account @beccamariewrong , but this month I thought I’d switch it up.

Scott Long, the future program director at BikeAthens, poses for a portrait inside the BikeAthens shop on Aug. 28, 2018. Long has been volunteering with BikeAthens, a local non-profit that promotes cycling, walking and transit as solutions to transportation needs in Athens, Georgia, since 2015. He’s worked more than 2,500 volunteer hours at the bike shop, started #FYOB — an event where locals can learn how to fix their own bikes and has helped provide bikes for students, local Athenians and those in need of affordable transportation for the past three years. “Social services gets harder when you don’t have a reliable transportation service,” said Long. “Without transportation, you can’t go to work, you can’t go to the grocery store, you can’t go to the doctor. We’re trying to fix that.” Long’s work in the bike shop and relationships with customers has helped BikeAthens start making money rather than losing it. To date, BikeAthens has sold more than 90 bikes and anticipates surpassing their sales from the previous year. Long starts as the full-time program manager of BikeAthens on Sept. 1. He’ll continue doing what he always has — fixing bikes, selling bikes and helping people get where they need to go. (Photo/Rebecca Wright)
Can’t wait (but also extremely anxious) to cover @georgiafootball this semester with some of the best photographers I know, @tonywalsh_ and @crmatacotta! I never thought four years ago when I was covering high school football for my yearbook that I’d be here my senior year of college. ✨
Angela Gay, a social worker in the Clarke County School System, poses for a photo in her office at Cedar Shoals High School on Aug. 24. Gay recently received the Jenny Penny Oliver grant for going above and beyond as a support staff member at both CSHS and Howard B. Stroud Elementary School. “I’m really humbled to be receiving the award,” said Gay. “I’ve always known that I wanted to help people.”
Sherry Luo, a junior genetics and English double major, poses for a portrait in Park Hall in Athens, Georgia on Aug. 24, 2018. Luo is the senior editor of Stillpoint Literary Magazine. (Photo/Rebecca Wright)
